You may or may not have guessed it by the point, but I love dogs (Eko, don’t worry, I love you the most). In my travels I have been lucky enough to meet all kinds of great pet, working, and therapy dogs. I’m always impressed by the loyalty and intelligence of every dog, but working military canines are in a league all their own.
The few, the proud, the military canines
Using the same positive training techniques you probably use at home, military dogs are trained for a wide variety of tasks from bomb detection to patrol duties. You can read more about their training here and check out this awesome video of some four-legged recruits at “boot camp” on base in Texas.
Eko and I are working our way up to it…

Earlier today I came across this great series of photos of military canines in action that reminded me just how incredible these dogs are. The photos have definitely inspired me, so Eko and I are off to train, first for the Canine Good Citizen test and next for…jumping out of planes? One thing at a time I guess!
Military canines, Eko and I raise our hand/paw in salute of the great work you do!
Great post!! Good luck with the CGC 🙂
