When Did You Know Your Pet Was The One?

One of my favorite parts of talking with other pet owners is hearing the stories about how they found their pets – or quite often – how their pets found them.  The stories are always unique and they show the different ways we all ended up at the same place.  When I was searching through old photos for a post this week, I came upon some grainy cell phone footage of my first visits with Eko.  Take a look and let me know if you think there was any way I could have ended up with a more perfect adventure companion:

As you can see, I don’t think there was much of a choice – Eko was the one!  If you have a good, “I knew my pet was the one when….” story please be sure to share. They always make me smile.

  1. Eko’s video is adorable!! So squishy and squiggly 🙂

I found Bailey on Petfinders.com – the first day that he was on the site (after being cured of mange, born on the streets in West Virginia). I’d been “browsing” dogs for weeks and had decided to give it a rest for a while, when he popped up. I called Scott at work and asked if he could come home “ummmm, RIGHT NOW” so we could drive almost two hours to visit Bailey at his foster mom’s. He was 5 months old, standing silhouetted in the doorway, with one ear up and one down, and I was already in love! When we met him that evening, he growled at Scott and then jumped up into the chair I was sitting in, with me! Scott just shook his head, smiled, and said, “I guess we’ll be taking him home, now.” 🙂

  2. i went to the animal shelter to adopt one of the st. bernard/beagle mix pups – I wanted to get the little girl but the little boy ran to me and started licking me – and right away i knew he was the one -we named him rigby- it happened to be on dec 24th so he was my christmas present and continues to be such a great present every day

  3. Aww that’s cute.
Mummy and daddy came to visit me at my birth mother’s house, but by then only me and my ‘twin’ were left unclaimed. Such a hard choice as they couldn’t take both of us, but I was the more curious of us and kept rolling for bellyrubs so they picked me 🙂 Or rather, I picked them!
