A Movie Recommendation For Dog Lovers

Eko was skeptical that I was stylish enoough to wear these cleats

Since I wasn’t going to be moving anyway, I decided to watch a PBS documentary, Dogs Decoded, which a number of friends had recommended.  As it turned out, I wasn’t the only interested viewer in the room.

Eko enjoyed the movie even more than I did!

As I lounged on the couch, Eko planted himself as close as possible to the screen and diligently watched the entire documentary.  It was nice to know that we have similar interests when it comes to movies.  Dogs Decoded provides a fascinating look into the domestication, genetics and history of our canine buddies.  I learned a lot and I now have an even greater appreciation for just how incredible dogs are.  I always knew Eko was smart (too smart, sometimes!) but I found out that on certain cooperative intelligence tests, dogs can even outperform chimps.  Learning that fact made me feel a little less ashamed of being outsmarted by Eko on a recurring basis.

Best of all, the documentary is available totally free on YouTube.

Next time you have an hour to kill on a rainy day, be sure to give it a watch.  If your dog is anything like Eko, they’ll love to watch it too.  We give Dogs Decoded one thumb and one paw up!

Comments for A Movie Recommendation For Dog Lovers

  1. We don’t dare watch anything with a dog in it as ours bawl and demand to know where the dog(s) are 🙁

  3. Uncle Austin says:

Will, your Dad and I grew up watching dogs on TV.

  6. Boomdeeadda says:

I dog buddy used to like to watch TV too. I’ve seen this Nova presentation too. Wasn’t it interesting? I thought the whole study with the raising of the wolf from cub was interesting…that it wasn’t able to be domesticated by lavishing love and attention on it and it remained a wild animal. Great thing to share, I’ll watch it again. Thanks Will
