“Hey, quick! While Will isn’t looking, sneak me some treats!”
But like all good things, Eko’s extra charmed month had to come to an end. He realized the jig was up this morning when he discovered the tell tale signs of a trip in the making.
“And just when exactly were you planning on telling me about this?”
Like most pups, Eko knows that suitcases mean someone is about to hit the road. He proceeded to pout all morning and he stood vigil by the door to make sure no one could leave without him. We brought Eko along for the ride to the airport, but he remained inconsolable.
“Now who am I supposed to hustle for free treats when Will isn’t looking?”
“You had me at ‘hello,’ Treat Fairy”
And so the Treat Fairy spread her wings (or got on a plane with some) and took off for New York City. Eko will miss her, but he’s consoled by the fact that he’ll see her at Christmas. With plenty of treats at the ready I’m sure!
Ohhhhhh this sooooo made me smile! First, what a great brother you are, having our sister stay with you for a month and then poor Eko! He looks soooo sad! He is going to miss Helen aka “The Treat Fairy” so much! OMG I hope she is going somewhere safe in NY that isn’t flooded! Wishing her all the best!
ooops! That should be having YOUR sister stay with you….she isn’t my sister! lol
We just started packing the RV for our trip to the desert SW and Bear won’t budge from laying near the door. He knows it’s time to go “bye-bye” and he is making sure we don’t forget him! Oh, and can’t forget the treats 🙂
If Helly Jelly returned to NYC with a carton of D batteries, she can sell them and retire for life.
I hope everything is ok when your sister arrives home. How great you had such a long visit. The treat fairy hid the goodies here since I’m not suppose to indulge….oh man Eko, I feel your pain.
Poor inconsolable Eko but, not to worry, Christmas is just around the corner.
I’m sure Eko is hurt by your implying he only misses your sister because she sneaks him treats. She’s a member of the pack!
And he doesn’t understand how you could be so dumb as to let her escape, although you should have known she would make a run for it because she had her suitcase with her. Why do these stupid humans never learn the telltale signs? It’s unbelievable!
Delightful post. Poor baby. My cat sits in the suitcase when travel is on the agenda. Makes me sad that I can’t explain it to her. I love the energy and humor of your blog.
Adorable:) I am glad Eko is getting super spoiled by his aunt:)
That first picture of Eko is perfect. I, too, have a nephew dog that I enjoy spoiling rotten!
Every dog needs an aunt who will spoil him. 😉
This is a very sad story…it should come with a warning. I hope Eko can survive until Christmas…maybe you can give him just a few extra treats until then?
ohhh. this is so sad!… Eko’s expression when he realizes someone’s leaving is so heartbreaking! They do always know, don’t they?
