Ah, Daylight Savings Time!  This weekend was the good one, the fall back one, the “enjoy a little extra rest” one.  Every spring when we lose an hour of sleep I grumble that we should get rid of DST all together, but every fall I’m back on board when I get to sleep in.  Well, I used to sleep in at least.

“I don’t care what the clock says, I’m hungry now.”

In the back of my mind I always knew it to be the case, but it wasn’t until this past weekend that I finally acknowledged that my apartment runs on EST – Eko Standard Time.  The clock can say whatever it well pleases, but I wake up when Eko wakes up.

Based on the early morning crowd at the dog park, I could tell that Eko isn’t the only dog who doesn’t live life by the clock

That being said, Eko did “clock out” just a bit earlier than usual last night!

I’m a bit tired, but Eko says I should thank him.  After all, he helped me find the hour I otherwise would have lost in bed!  What a good guy…

Hope you guys got to enjoy a bit of extra shut eye!

We were pretty lucky. Dakota didn’t start barking til about 5:30 which would have been 6:30 on the old time. He mostly barked because his partner in crime, (our cat) started first!

  2. In the uk we changed our clocks a couple of weeks ago and it was great as i now get my dinner an hour early!!

  3. So very true, how we can tell what time it is by our dogs. One of my favorite quotes is, “If you don’t believe dogs aren’t smart put three cookies on your pocket and only give them two.”

The dog I had when I was younger knew if she got to go by the type of shoes I put on. If I put on a pair of heels she would put her tail between her legs, get in her bed and pout.

    Gotta love em!

  4. Bailey, too, was VERY perky the past two mornings, unlike his owner. Ha ha.

I loved the caption to the first picture, you definitely can read Eko’s mind, his expression was precisely that you’ve said…

  6. Evelyne says:

Eko is right!!! I refuse to follow the government clock here too… 😉

  7. Tiffany F. says:

I curse DLS! We were in Europe last weekend, and they observed it a week sooner than the US. So factor two DLS plus the time size change, and my clock is seriously messed up!

I had something funny to say … but then I got distracted by that Great Dane … **** he must have been HUGE!!!!! (PS Im glad youll be back for Christmas … might have to come over and say hi to my favorite blog star (Eko obviously ) Ill leave Wyatt at home tho haha)

Until recently, Indiana stayed on Eastern Standard time all year. Something about the cows not wanting to get up earlier. Part of the year they were on the same time as New York and the rest of the year Chicago. In South Bend, drive a mile north to Michigan and you were in a different time zone for half the year. Our dog Sandy eats dinner at five every day. Yesterday she wanted her dinner at 4 p.m. and there was no reasoning with her.

Lol. I am with you. I love to get that extra hour, but when we have to change it again, I complain and complain even though, Alex, my canine companion could care less:) Great post.

Ha, it’s true. We live by kitty cat clock time here. My husband gets up at 4:45AM and so the cats think its morning….then after they get breakfast, some pets and cuddles and some play time…they go back to sleep. Meanwhile I’m up…FOR GOOD. PS, cute photos of Eko

  12. Jorie says:

I think my parents’ dogs have not yet adjusted either. Good thing they’re konking out early.

  13. haha EST could also mean EASY Standard Time ( set by my 7 stomaches)

  14. Kathleen says:

Its like in my house too but it PST, Pets Standard Time. Just because I wanted to use that extra hour to sleep didnt mean my pets would let me. The cats were meowing for food and the dogs were ready to go for a walk.

  15. Judy says:

My dog observes mom time at my house (that is to say she snoozes until I show signs of life,) but at my boyfriends house, the rules are apparently different. As in Hey Moe! Lets tell mom we should eat breakfast at 2 am! If were totally obmoxious, maybe she will!

  16. Awwww says:

Wow, a dog bigger than Mr. Eko. Impressive!

  17. Paws To Talk says:

Our humans have been getting up late and going to bed late. Their clocks are off.
