Best in the biz

On our walk this morning, Eko informed me that there is an investment opportunity which would cost me a few bucks and have a potential payout of nearly half a billion dollars.  That’s a lot of dog treats, so I agreed to go halfsies with Eko on a Powerball ticket for tonight’s drawing.  Now the question is what will Eko and I do with all that money if we win?  That’s easy:

Live it up at the beach!

Relax and enjoy each other’s company

Spend time with old friends

And make new friends along the way

Most importantly, we would never forget that money can’t buy happiness!

As it turns out, I don’t think you need to win the lottery to live an exciting life – you just need a great pet!  In the unlikely event we do win the lotto, my dream would be to take Eko on a safari in South Africa.  After that, we would start the Mr. Eko Animal Shelter, where there would never be a lack of playtime or a shortage of treats for our guests.

What about you?  If you hit the jackpot, what would you do with it?

Comments for What Would You And Your Pet Do With $500 Million?

I would buy acres and acres of land and build animal sanctuary and hire tons of helpers to care for them, and then I would send a jet to collect Eko (and you of course) to come for visits every week…how’s that!

  2. I would buy my wife the home at the beach with a white picket fence and buy me a new Keurig coffee pot (Mine is making a lot of noise). The next thing I would do is purchase a calendar and start inviting friends (like EKO and Will) to our new home for visits, fun, and Coffee. 🙂 Kenny T

  3. Ha! There would be a lot fewer destitute animals, that’s for sure 😀

Who is that huge friend of Eko’s and what is he – quite delicious.

  4. Mustang.Koji says:

I hope you are enjoying your Sierra Nevada! Or at least I think that’s what it is! lol I’d buy Eko a new paw if he ever needed a replacement, that’s for sure! Great photos…

  5. catchatcaren says:

I soooooooooooooo LOVED THIS and the first photo is HILARIOUS!! I just tweeted it and shared on our facebook fan page!
We are much like you…if we won, we would buy a home in Hawaii (for half of the year), give money to friends/relatives, donate to charity, possibly open a Day Care for human children, and definitely a no-kill shelter. We aren’t into a lot of material things, we just want to help others out too!

  6. Uncle Austin says:

Will Eko. They say people who say money cant buy happiness, dont know where to shop. You forgot one item upon winning the big one, PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR.

  7. April Shafer says:

Open LoLo Loves shelter where no animals are killed & ALL Pitbulls will have a home until they fond their furever family <3 (named after my pittie LoLo)d

  8. Linda McParlan says:

If I won the lotto I would help set up programs to stop elephant & rhino poaching.
I would also contribute to animal shelters in the US.

  9. Jodi Grow says:

Eko is a lucky pet to share his life with such a devoted human<3
If we hit big money in tonights Power Ball Oliver, our 23 month old cattle dog/basenji mix and my husband and I will buy a luxurious RV and hit the road! No need to worry about dog friendly hotels, we'll have our own! We'll find dog parks along the way to keep Oliver playing with pals. We'll donate to animal foundations that will use the money on the animals, not their own promotions! We'll sponsor animals along the way that would otherwise not have been so lucky! Most importantly, we'll take great care of our family and friends! It's just money, you can't take it with you when your gone.

    spend time with old friends!

  11. Boomdeeadda says:

I’ve come to realize there is nothing that Eko won’t do for you. IRS…hahaha. He looks like he knows what he’s doing too, love the glasses. Man that is a load of money. I’d hope to buy a house and help family with bills. Travel would be nice too. There’d be some very happy charities in town…I have a real soft spot for a homeless man I see often downtown….something great would happen for him and of course animals are tops on the list. Good Luck!!

  12. …hmmm… I would do the same as Eko… and I would share a part of it with my friends – so we could enjoy “la dolce vita” together… and oh maybe I would buy a pair of shoes for mom.. or maybe not ;o)

  13. onebluedog says:

Eko looks really good in some glasses! Also, his buddy must be super huge to make Eko look so little!

If we got so much money we would buy a house with a big yard for me and mom says space for horses too. And dad says a boat. Then mom would save a lot of animals from jail and help them find good families. And dad would buy a fast car so my ears can blow in the wind 🙂

Oh, and we would send presents to all our blogland buddies too 🙂

  14. Marcela says:

Lol. I’d start by helping my family, taking a long over due vacation with my girlfriend and our Alex, and then come back home and do a lot of volunteer work for dogs and start a non profit/shelter for doggies.

  15. Carol Conner says:

We would probably have done what you did and travel the country looking for perfect dog cities. Maybe other parts of the world as well. As it is I was also comforted by my best friend and once again realized that being loved is enough. (although I know France loves dogs)

  16. Lise Trinkle says:

I would help all bona fide pet shelters, my family, and travel to find other honest charities to spread my wealth.

  17. linda misiewicz says:

beutiful ridgeback one of my favorite breeds what fun traveling with your best friend

  18. Melissa Hollan says:

I would buy a thousand acres, hire staff and build very comfortable housing for hundreds of disadvantaged, special need and homeless animals that otherwise would never know love or kindness or a roof over their precious heads.

  19. animallover says:

I would build a not for profit no-**** shellter in every state where it is needed the most. Not only would that save thousands of dogs, but it would also open up jobs for real animal lovers. Of course, I would take care of my familys future too. Awesome dreaming!

  20. Jenny says:

Bye a farm w/ about 100 acers, a herd of sheep for our Assie to herd around. Take in a few abused farm animals get our daughter a horse. In addition build an agility course for the kids puppy to run off some of there energy. Also take a vacation since we have never had one… not sure where to go or what to do though. Maybe travel somewhere to get another Assie or 2 since they are such cool dogs!

  21. katlady109 says:

I have a little cat that loves to go in the car and do volunteer work with me. We also run a pet food pantry out of my church. If I didnt have to work, we would do more visits in the nursing home, which we love. I would also have more time to raise pet food donations and to pick them up.

  22. Sue Kramer says:

If I won the lttery I would start a 1. start a foundation smaller non profit rescues (100yr) facility and a means of keeping the facility open. often these groups do not have the lobbying power or advertising budget to generate larger donations.
    2. buy a house somewhere warm!

  23. Denise says:

I would rebuild the Sunnyslope faciility of the Arizona Humane Society to include a massive play area where the dogs could socialize off leash. They also need a LONG dog walking area. Secondly I would start a SENIOR dog cage free rescue so they could enjoy their remaining years comfortabily. All I need is the winner.

  24. Mary Murphy says:

I would make sure that there would be free spaying and neutering for those who couldnt afford it.

  25. Tammy Baugh says:

I have often seen a homeless person with a dog or bird. And I know for a fact that there is no temporary housing for them. It may well be that that dog or bird or cat or whatever pet they have is all they have in the world. Id like to build a homeless shelter in my area for the homeless person who is a pet parent. I thought of this about 2 years ago.

  26. Beth says:

I would open a state of the art sanctuary for cats and dogs. Staff would live onsite to provide for 24 hour rescue capability. Each rescued pet would be housed with indoor and outdoor facilities and live in a family group. It would be called Milagros because it would provide miracles for homeless pets.

  27. Juanita caldwell says:

I have always told EVERYONE that I would buy property and build the largest animal shelter I could. It would have security fencing so the animals could be outside to play and exercise. They would all have medical attention, warm beds, full stomachs and all the LOVE they can stand and NONE WOULD BE TURNED AWAY!

  28. Mignon Fetterhoff says:

I would spend the money for the Humane Society that I volunteer for so they could have the facility that houses both cats dogs in the same place. Be able to actually empoyee (pay) people along with having volunteers. This Humane Society was started out of a home has grown, its not State or City funded relies/depends on donations grants. This Humane Society is also NO ****. I would give all I could to make this happen!!

  29. Dawn Slater says:

I would offer help to those affected by hurricane Sandy in our area.
