Physical Therapy Has Never Been So Fun

For the past few weeks my job has been to keep the lid on the bottle of lightning known as Eko.  He might have a fractured toe, but his injury certainly didn’t curb his  boundless energy.  After nearly a month of curtailed activity, we finally got the all clear
For the past few weeks my job has been to keep the lid on the bottle of lightning known as Eko.  He might have a fractured toe, but his injury certainly didn’t curb his  boundless energy.  After nearly a month of curtailed activity, we finally got the all clear to let Eko loose for a run.  Which is great for two reasons.  First, it’s a beautiful day out.  And second:

Eko was close to figuring out how to unlock the door and stage a prison break

Chicago isn’t exactly known for its 70° December days, so Eko’s first romp of freedom couldn’t have come on a more perfect morning.  We drove up to our favorite summertime hangout, Montrose Dog Beach, for some physical therapy.

We had the entire stretch of beach to ourselves and the sand gave Eko the perfect cushion to run on.  When I let him off leash he paused for a moment, took a deep breath and then took off like he was in the Kentucky Derby.

Pure joy

I never thought I would be writing about a trip to the beach in December, but hey I’m not complaining.  Neither is Eko.  It was such a treat to watch him back action, doing what he does best – running around like a lunatic.  It looks like there are record high temperatures across the country today – how are you and your pet taking advantage of the day?

Comments for Physical Therapy Has Never Been So Fun

  2. YAY!!! Sooooooooooo glad he is back to normal and KUDOS to you for taking care of him so wonderfully! You BOTH ROCK!

  3. Brilliant. I’m so glad Eko is back to normal and you managed to survive the last couple of weeks. Those photographs are fantastic!

Isn’t it great to watch the pure joy dogs have in just the simple things. It makes you laugh out loud. THey definately live in the moment!

  5. Mustang.Koji says:

That’s great news to literally see Eko is back on his paws… 😉

  6. A dog on the beach in winter is the most free spirit in the world. Eko deserved this and will need the therapy every week until Spring 😀

  7. Ingrid says:

So glad to see Eko running around. Bear is enjoying his ever changing scenery with the exception of a recent cactus attact. Enjoy that Chicago weather while it lasts 🙂

  8. He looks like nothing ever happened.

When I first saw the film, Titanic, I thought DeCaprio, what a wuss! Here he is dog-paddling around the North Atlantic in springtime bitching about the cold. When I was his age I was dog-paddling around Chicagos Lake Michigan IN JUNE. Now thats cold water. Eko is an ironman to tackle the lake in December. Glad to see him on the mend.

Looks like fun! Run Eko run!
Darn, I’m in the wrong country for record high temperatures, we’ve been ‘below average’ for over a month. Yippie.

Oh wow, does Eko look HAPPY!! It’s great to see him back to his old self again. That’s one great dog you have there, Will! 🙂

  14. Hi, Will and Eko, sorry we have not been around to visit for awhile. We were sorry to hear about your broken toe Eko but it appears you are doing quite well. Those last two pictures are terrific action captures and we love the first pictures. Good job Eko working on that lock. Thank you so much for all your visits to our blog. Hugs and nose kisses Chancy and Mumsy

AAAAwwww haven’t been around much lately, but great to pop in and wonderful to see Eko looking so happy,Feeling slightly guilty that i haven’t been able to spend as much time with Noah (leaving the house at 7 for work
and not returning till 6 on most days is no fun) roll on the hols. You have inspired me to use my holiday time to get some visits to the beach. :).

Eko must have been so excited! Freedom at last! I am really glad he is all better now 🙂

  17. I heard the weather report for Chicago and am delighted by Eko’s day at the beach. It was near 80 degrees in Dallas yesterday so Optimus and I waited until today’s cooler weather to go to the park and the SMU campus. He had to work tonight but then got to run in the leaves. FREEDOM!
