Scapel. Check.
That’s why I was amazed to learn about the Horrowitz Dog Cognition Lab in New York City. The Lab studies the behavior and cognition of domestic dogs and has published research on a wide number of interesting canine considerations. I found out about the Horrowitz Lab because of their most recent study – a study which may rank as the most fun ever conducted in the history of science. Project: Play With Your Dog is exactly what it sounds like. There are a large number of studies about how dogs play with each other, but now the Horrowitz Lab wants to catalog the different ways dogs play with humans. Man, science sure is awesome!
Eko likes to play chicken with me
The best part is that the lab is looking for people to submit short videos of them playing with their dog. To join the study all you have to do is complete a short survey and submit a 30-60 second video of you and your dog playing. That’s it! Eko and I are off to the park with the video camera to record us playing….er, I mean, record us conducting an important science experiment We’ll share our research video in a post tomorrow.
If you join in the fun/science be sure to let me know so I can check out your video.
We do look forward to this, hope it doesn’t involve a visit to the hospital 😉
So now all I have to do is figure out how to take a video on my camera…a task more difficult than it sounds if you’re me 🙂 But this sounds like such a fun project I may just have to do it…Thanks for pointing it out!
Finally, a scientific study that doesn’t scare the pants off of me.
This sounds like fun. I will have to submit a video of my husband and Millie playing together. I think my husband was a canid in a previous life 😉
We need a scientific survey to convince us we should play with our dogs? Well, at least the research is fun! 🙂
Sounds like fun!!
Good luck…I’m sure that’s THE video of the year!!!
Reblogged this on Wild Things Pet Services and commented:
Had I known science was this fun I would have changed my major! Cinema, Max, and I can’t wait to to contribute our own results… for the betterment of society, of course!
Hmm…I think I like science 🙂
What kind of dog is Eko?
