Things didn’t look good. Eko stalked for any signs of life…
This is the shoreline we were looking for
But this is the shoreline we found
Eko and Riley scoured the sand for signs of life, but it was ice as far as the eye could see
Eko took once last look across the thick ice and was ready to call off the search until he heard a cheerful yelp from Riley. She found water!
And for some strange reason, dove right into it!
Eko did not share Riley’s enthusiasm to join the polar bear club, so we quickly dashed back to the heated car to dry Riley off. We’re happy to report the beach is still very much there, but I think we’ll hold off on playing fetch in the water for a few more months.
the last photograph is simply gorgeous. Be safe, we are supposed to have 2-4 inches again tomorrow in Michigan. We get our weather right after you!
It looks as though Eko made the most of it. It must have been very cold to freeze that far out!
We’re meant to get 2+ feet of snow in Boston between Friday and Saturday. Tonto might get lost in the snow! He has his small stature AND his white fur against him! Stay warm!!
The beach on the North Sea in Germany where we lived was about 7 miles long and 1-2 miles wide depending on the tide, but the water was only one attraction…us dogs loved just playing in the sand, sniffin’, diggin’ whatever, it was fun even when the water was far out!
There is always California! Where the beaches never freeze! lol
there is nothing better than watching your dog have fun – totally makes me so happy everytime i see them playing and having a good time
Wow, have never seen a beach freeze before, that’s incredible.
First time I saw Lake Michigan frozen I was amazed…I was in the Indiana Dune(Michigan City) & ran into some kids using trash can lids to slide down the dune & onto the ice…They were nice enough to let me borrow a lid & give it a try 🙂 Eko may have missed the water, but he sure had a good time anyway
Eko should come visit me; our beach never freezes! 😀
Will, it would appear Ekos broken toe a while back is fully healed. Romp on.
Grew up in Chicago and never went to the beach when it was frozen! It’s now on my to do list!
Eko is so frisky on the beach…I love the “Dreams of Summer” pic!!!!
That sun was great today! I had a bit of spring fever, too!
So awesome to see playful shots of Eko! As a recent follower, seeing my first booty-in-the-air pic of Eko just made my day! 😉
Lucky you, look at all that sand!!! woop woop, that’d be a riot and the place was all yours. That’s the coolest picture out on the lake and the waves frozen. I had no idea it froze…I just assumed it was too big.
My word, look at that ice. Eko must have been utterly confused.
What a great day … I agree – never a dull moment:o)l
One of my favorite things is watching Bailey “get his run on”! Glad you and Eko still had an amazing trip to the beach 🙂
Great post! If only sand and sticks could make everyone so happy!
Enjoy the weather 🙂
Oh wow someone has stolen the ocean! Riley must be really related with a polar bear, I can see the icicles on the tail :o)
Wow, that water had to be really cold. Hope Riley got warmed up quickly after that dive-in. Hugs and nose kisses
WOL! Eko be careful of water around ice and snow! Even us snow pups don’t go in it! Woooooowoooooooo!
I would be seriously discombobulated if my beach disappeared – I think Eko showed remarkable presence of mind in the circumstances! And I wonder if Riley will ever dive headlong into water again without first checking – lol! Dog after my own heart!!
Oh yeah, Riley! I go in the ice water too and it doesn’t bother me a bit, but dogs like Eko prefer to stay warm and don’t have the right fur for polar plunges 😉
Uhm…yes…we can totally understand Eko’s confusion!
Wally & Sammy
Wow, that looks bitter cold. I’m glad Riley warmed up quickly. Good job, Eko.
Lol at Riley, she’s a brave one!
brrr Riley you are crazy
