Those of us with pets are used to keeping one eye on our four legged buddies – you never know what kind of trouble they might get into.  As it turns out, many pets also like to keep an eye out on us for the same reason!

While adventurous outdoors, Eko usually chills on the couch at home.  However, if he senses that I might be up to something, he quickly springs into action to get a closer look.

One of Eko’s favorite lookout spots is above the fridge.  He likes keeping an eye on me while I make dinner

If I have been at the computer for too long, Eko will take all necessary steps to physically separate me from the keyboard.   It’s for my own good

Like many pups, Eko is most active when he thinks I might be leaving the house without him.  If Emily is at the apartment and we both have our jackets on, Eko has to work twice as hard to keep an eye on us both.

Eko has perfected leaning on Emily while watching me so that neither of us can make a move without him knowing

And of course, the easiest way to keep an eye on me and keep me from leaving is simply by sitting on me!

Does your pet have any go-to moves or perches they like to use when they want to keep a closer eye on you?

My cat loves on top of the kitchen cabinets. I’m positive he’s watching the door (directly below said cabinets) for unwelcome intruders….

  2. Victoria says:

Rigby lays across my lap and Muffin sits on my feet -or if they think they have a chance to go with me then they beat me to the door and wait for me there.

  3. They just follow me everywhere! Bathroom included, I know all four are small but get us all in the bathroom and it gets quite crowded. If I close the door they scratch and peek under it. Even in the motor home they try to get in and will go as far as squishing their faces under the door to see what I am up to. Silly kids!

  4. Paws to Talk says:

Eko you do an excellent job keeping an eye on your humans! We like to do the same thing too. You never know what they will do!

  5. that photo of Eko and Emily was just hilarious!!! Actually it is my CAT who is the omnipresent being in our house. He sits on the highest level of his cat tower, in the living room, (in the cave at the top) where he has an amazing view of the kitchen at all times 🙂 He can watch and hear if Dakota gets a treat, if so….he is right behind him waiting for his!

Tonto likes to sit on us or right at our feet, practically tripping us over!

PS – I saw this GIF today and thought it was Eko! =) http://whatshouldwecallme.tumblr.com/post/42455572898/when-i-offer-someone-something-i-cooked

I sit in the office with mom all day and keep an eye on what she is doing. If she is leaving she tells us so we know and we just let her go but I always am in the front window as she leaves giving her the sad dog left behind look in the hope that it makes her rush back to me!

  8. Jessica says:

Great post! My husband and I have a hallway in the middle of our tiny apartment that serves as Taylor’s lookout point, because she can see the front door as well as all the movement going on in the living room and the kitchen. BTW, just out of curiosity, how much does Eko weigh? 😉

  9. Steven/Buddy says:

    Love your pictures !
Well I really can’t say Buddy h!as any spot to watch me? Buddy is almost glued to my hip ! I can’t even take a shower without Buddy being in the bathroom with me. Its cute at times, but some times I just need my space!

  10. Neither of ours weighs enough to do Eko’s best trick!

Usually I don’t spend too much time keeping an eye on mom at home; it would really cut into my couch time.

But I’ve got my eyes glued to her when she is mixing up my Kong-sicles! And, if she’s been upstairs too long, I’ll wander up to make sure she didn’t faint or get lost 🙂

The “above the fridge” pic made me crack up!!!! Especially the one with him sitting by Emily…all of you are perfect together!!!! Trev gets nervous when we all start getting ready (he used to go to work with me everyday) so he doesn’t like to be alone and I dislike not having him by my side at any time. He wiggles under our feet (especially dady’s) while we get ready and sneezes to keep our attention! I love his fake sneezes!!!! That’s his signature “you can’t go without me” move!

  13. Gizmo says:

Giz has his spots and keeps a sharp eye, while always monitoring the street just in case a dog walks by within a 3 block radius…The photo of Eko brought on an image of a vulture…and then one of Eko leaping down over the rail to snag a treat from your food prep and running back up the stairs to his “lair”

  14. Boomdeeadda says:

Petals and Blossum both come sit at the steps by the front door. If you sit on the stairs to tie a shoe, Blossum will try and crawl in your lap. Her daddy was all packed to leave on a trip and had his luggage open to add the shaving bag in the morning and little ol’ Petals climbed in there to get everything furry. We wondered if she wanted to go with.

  15. I hate it if my humans waste their time with this compawter-thingy – I think 10 minutes per day is more than enough – otherwise they will be “weimaranished” by me ;o)

  16. I’m like Eko, I have to follow them everywhere and make sure I know what they are doing at all times:-)

  17. Marcela says:

Lol. Every time you post a picture of handsome Eko I tell myself, “He is so handsome”. Then you post more pictures and Eko looks even more handsome and adorable. How do you do that?

  18. What heart-warming pictures of the three of you. LOVE them.

  19. Sage’s favorite spot is the ‘condo’ in the cat tree, where she can watch everyone coming and going outside. But when I put my shoes on, or even go near the coat closet, there’s that very expectant look that gets in her eyes.
