You don’t have to be a detective to know that a Rhodesian Ridgeback lives in my apartment.  Over the past couple years I have accumulated a collection of Ridgeback themed items (most as gifts from the Treat Fairy) that are scattered around the house.  Here are a few of my favorite –

My to-do pad helps me stay organized, but I can’t seem to figure out why “Get treatz!” always ends up on top of the list

Eko isn’t the only Ridgeback to keep an eye on the fridge

Before I put this sticker anywhere, Eko made sure it was a match Rhodesian Ridgeback, pet blog

Two dimensional Ridgebacks are fine, but apparently there’s only room for one 3D Ridgeback in my apartment.  Here is Eko stalking the Ridgeback paperweight my sister got for me

And here he is going in for the kill.  I have to keep these two separated now

While all the Ridgeback knick-knacks I have picked up are fun reminders of Eko, there is one in particular that cracks me up no matter how many times I see it.

BEWARE! Of his snoring.  Or of his propensity to lick your face and shake his butt

Since he is usually sprawled out sleeping, I guess you could say Eko guards the couch, but that’s about it.  Do you have any fun items – key chains, jewelry, signs, etc – that are little reminders of your four-legged buddy?

Ridgebacks seem to be known for their lounging abilities….mine as well. I have many pictures of Rooi on the couch, (positioned just right, so it looks out onto the street) “arm-chair” guarding.

  2. Ours is a fab design of cards/fridge magnets/t-shirts we have scattered around the house and give to friends and family and the occasional winner of a competition – they say ‘Chien lunatique’. No idea why they go down so well 😀

  3. nerdgrl says:

Hmmm…key chain, cards (thank you and others), notepads, post its, sweatshirt, Christmas ornament, picture frames (with pics of Steffi, of course), socks…except our mini schnauzer is white and there are never any white minis just the “regular” salt and peppers in terms of merchandizing. Oh well.

  4. catchatcaren says:

Oh yes! We have a doormat that says “Beware of Dakota” We have a bumper sticker (that we don’t put on the car) that says “My Sheltie is smarter than your honor student”, we have key chains, a plush Sheltie, T-shirts, etc. I smile when I see Eko because my father (who passed in 2001) was completely in love with his breed. He adored them. I can see why 🙂

  5. emma says:

Since my sister and I are both not well known breeds, we can’t find any stuff to buy with our breeds on it which we find a bummer but on the other hand it is fun to be different.

  6. Gizmo says:

No one has come out with a line of “Hello I’m Your Scruffy Terrier Mix” merchandise…yet…hmm, do i see a business opportunity here? LOL

  7. Steven/Buddy says:

Since my sweetheart Brandy passed away in 2010, she was adopted and a mix dog. I have some items that look like her. But I have her paw prints tattoo on my forearm with her ashes, then I have a portrait of her tattoo on my chest so she is always with me. I am doing the same for Charlie my German Shepard.
Now Buddy that I just recently adopted, we think he is part Husky mix with Basenji? I been finding items that look like him.
It would be great if we could share a picture with you to some times.

  8. Uncle Austin says:

Will, I have a small statue of our old Black Lab Pepper. It is carved from a lump of Anthracite coal and I found it in a shop in York England.

  9. That’s the way to do it when you something/someone 🙂

  10. Cindy says:

We have a few GSD and Rottie items since we have had those breeds in the past, but Millie is her own unique dog. Of course I now have a crocheted Mini Millie thanks to a blogging friend, but that is probably the only Millie item I will ever have.

  11. We got a door sign last christmas: “a rotten spoiled weimaraner lives here” … some people have a weird sense for humor! And we bought two sweaters by north face – they should be weimaraner brown – but they aren’t ;o)

  12. You’ve managed to accumulate a wonderful lot of nick-nacks. Love the to do list and the baby Eko is trying to kill is surely too cute for that.
I previously had a dalmatian, which, of course, made it really easy to collect stuff. At one point I had an entire room fill. It even extended to watches, socks, jerseys – pretty much you name it, I had a Dalmatian version of it. Of course, I’m certifiably nuts, so it’s alright 😀

  13. The last photo is priceless!

  14. onebluedog says:

Oh, I just love the pictures of real Eko and tiny paperweight Eko!

  15. writetowag says:

Every time I open a new post from you guys, I am guaranteed a smile!!!! You guys just crack me up and you have the cutest family ever! Yes, that is one of the first things I noticed about Eko, with him being a Ridgeback, he is gorgeous. That pic by the fridge…BOL!!!!

  16. Jorie says:

The beware photo is amazing. You should blow it up and put it on your front door. A meta beware sign.

  17. Boomdeeadda says:

Going in for the kill…..LOL. I have a husband that guards the couch in much the same fashion every evening, maybe I need to make a sign in the craft room HA. I’ve always wanted one of those Black Cat clocks where the tail goes back and forth….I see them on line but I’m too cheap to pay for shipping.

  18. Jessica says:

I’m SO happy I’m not the only one that has doggy knock-knacks! ;). My hubby recently found a Scottie salt and pepper shaker set at a local antique store, and I was literally jumping for joy!

  19. All the pictures are terrific but we love the one with Eko and the Beware sign. 🙂 Hugs and nose kisses

  20. AlohaGirl says:

OMG! That last one is too funny I can only picture it, cute face, tongue hanging out and tail wagging LOL Wish I could say the same about my Ridgeback, hes def a guard dog…no one can so much as come in the yard before hes barking up a storm and jumping up on the fence with his head popping up over the top.
