CONFESSION: My Dog Is A Pillow Addict

I have no idea how it happened but there is no denying that my dog is an addict.  A pillow addict.  I only realized it yesterday, but after reviewing the photographic evidence it’s clear that this habit formed over a long period of time.

I have no idea how it happened but there is no denying that my dog is an addict.  A pillow addict.  I only realized it yesterday, but after reviewing the photographic evidence it’s clear that this habit formed over a long period of time.

It started with a single pillow.  I would find Eko luxuriating on the couch like this and I could only chuckle and laugh

Despite a lack of thumbs, Eko found a way to hold his pillow tight while curled up for a nap

Even when it didn’t seem remotely comfortable, Eko still curled up with a pillow whenever he could

After a time it seems that Eko was no longer content with a single pillow.

A couple weeks ago I found that Eko had set up his very own pillow-top mattress

Now, I figured it couldn’t go beyond two pillows, but boy did I figure wrong.  This is the scene I walked into this morning after my run.

Eko tried to give me the, “It’s not what it looks like!” face, but there was really nothing to be said which hadn’t already been said by his placement atop his fluffy mountain.  However, now that I think about it, there is one thing left to be said.  I’m not buying any more pillows!

Anyone else have a pet that is a pillow monster?

How adorable:) Alex, just like Eko, loves pillows, but I would not go as far as to say that she is an addict:) As you can see, no parent ever want to admit his/her children’s shortcomings.

  2. I don’t have pillow monsters, I have have couch thieves, they will hog the couches until you make them move!

  3. nerdgrl says:

Pillows and blankets all the way for Steffi. Many times she’ll manage to get snuggled all the way UNDER the blanket and be quite content. During the winter she sleeps under the blanket but over the sheet with us in bed, taking up most of the bed BTW and she’s a mini schnauzer!

  4. FC says:

My Pino, also a Rhodie, loves bed pillows! He sleeps under the covers with me – a habit he picked up 5 years ago during the summer months! As soon as I hop out of bed in the am, he’s curls up in the same spot where I was sleeping, only on top of all of the pillows!

  5. emma says:

That is so sweet. I just have a big pillow bed which I sometimes try to scrunch up but that would be it. In my house, my mom is the pillow addict, 2 + at all times!

  6. Yup, we have one in our house too – Popper doesn’t subscribe to the “less is more” approach when it comes to cushions and pillows! 😆

  7. onebluedog says:

Eko seems to be an expert in pillow technology! He should teach a class; I would totally sit in the front 🙂

  8. taylorjen says:

Wait a minute- I missed something BIG here. Taylor loves pillows but she loves them for a totally different reason….still trying to use them as potential fabulous playthings or tug of war. She snuggles in blankets without trying to romp but pillows are a risky business… What’s the secret??? Taylor is a year & a half old Choc Lab – a pillow monster but not in a snoozing way!

  9. dr1v3n says:

Murphy is a pillow thief too, especially on the couch because not only do I have pillows but each cushion to support your back is like a huge pillow you lean against, and can move! When I’m not looking, he will sneak onto my bed, and lay on my three pillows I sleep with too!

  10. catchatcaren says:

I sooooooooooooooooo LOVE THAT DOG!! lol! I can’t stop smiling!! The “pillow addict” in our home is our cat, not our dog…….Eko is just too precious!

  11. Well! And why shouldn’t a dog have a few pillows?! What’s there to complain about? You probably like a good pillow, right? I personally covet the Mom Person’s bed pillow. And I find that my buddy Walker makes a great pillow. And Walker has his own giant stuffed dog that he drags around everywhere he goes.

  12. Sage says:

I have to admit, Eko topped Sage in number of pillows. Sage loves them so much, I had to buy one just for her, not that it stopped her from stealing mine!

  13. Great photos of a handsome boy!

Riva likes to sleep with pillows, but Maia’s addiction is of a destructive nature 😉

  14. I guess some doggies just luv the comfy lifestyle. Eko is similar to our Max the Shih Tzu. (He usurped most of square cushions on the sofa; we could tell because of the “Max-scent” he puts on them.) To these boys, they don’t mind what you think of them as long as they find satisfaction with their property. x0x0x Vanilla Bean

  15. Zena says:

Not like he’s spoiled or anything 😉

  16. Boomdeeadda says:

LOL, great photo’s Will. I love the 3 pillow one, ha how do you even get in that position Eko? We have a similar problem. Whenever Mr B get up from the sofa, Blossum goes and lies where he was sitting. She’s super fast, he might just be going to the tv 5 steps away….zing, she’s in there.

  17. Pillows are great! I’m in a solid relationship with dads pillow :o)

  18. Eve says:

Yes there use to be a pillow addict here when Juley’s Dad was gone for day to work. She would covet his side of the bed and pillows! But to see the look she would give him when he caught her using them. LOL

  19. Misaki says:

He looks so cute curled up on the pillows!

  20. Isn’t it funny how we notice these things our dogs do in retrospect? Eko’s clearly been honing his talent for a long time! Looks so comfy 🙂

  21. cynthia kramer says:

Baron, my weimy, loved pillows, did the same thing, the more he could get, the better.

  22. Jura says:

Loved this post. Had literally been meaning to do a similar one myself as Tala has also developed a similar penchant for pillows (shortly after the plain old novelty of being on the sofa itself wore off – she was only allowed up after a year!) We have down ones that she will delicately stomp on in order to fluff up appropriately. Never three though – are you sure you didn’t sneak that third one in yourself?…..

  23. […] to admit this post runs very much a long the lines of Will and Eko’s previous post – ‘Confession: My dog is a pillow addict’ – about a lovely Rhodesian Ridgeback in Chicago. However, now that it is getting colder in […]
