I can’t slow Eko down in real life but thanks to the magic of modern technology I can at least slow him down on my computer.  Recently I have been experimenting with shooting/editing slow motion video and I found that slow-mo can really help bring out Eko’s personality – especially when he is the one recording the video with the Ekocam!  Check it out:
Even when I’m on my computer, Eko is teaching me new things.  Without him I never would have researched slow-motion video and figured out how to do this.  Hopefully when I get good enough at recording/editing we’ll be ready to shoot Eko a demo reel for Hollywood ;-).  If you have any questions about the best way to record/edit for slow motion, just let me know.  I’m an amateur myself but I can definitely point you in the right direction.

I LOVED the flapping ears in slow mo.

  2. Great idea! Eko has to be one of the most well documented dogs to ever live. What a lucky dog!

  3. Really interesting and fun, Will. Besides the flapping ears (great!) it’s interesting to see the muscles moving in slow mo. Great!

  4. Wow! Eko your ears! And your tongue – slow motion is a funny thingy!

  5. Steven/Buddy says:

    Looking good Will!
Would love to learn how to slow down my videos! I never did think about doing that?

  6. Emmadog says:

Mom is a lousy video taker for one and then when she has a video, she can’t edit it worth a darn. I think there is a talent there that she seems to be missing 🙂 We love your videos!

  7. Wooooooo hooooooo!! Sooooooooo cool!! I also LOVE the new look of your blog!! Fabulous!

  8. Cool! We love the Eko cam shots the best!

  9. Will that is very cool, I love Eko’s ears flapping like that!

  10. You make it all look so easy, Will. You can really sense the grace of a dog when you slow things down. Lovely.

  11. mela designs says:

Fantastic, my Sam has been just as enthusiastic in his youth…going on 11 1/2 years now and he is just as persistent when I am working on the computer, primarily wanting to get off it to play and cuddle..
They are I feel the best breed I know, I sure they thing their human, he thrives when there is company around total show off..Great video, thx

  12. Sage says:

You BOTH were fantastic, but the ears take the day!

  13. Will what type of camera do you attach to Eko? I would LOVE to get one for my Ridgies!

  14. Boomdeeadda says:

I watched it twice and played it for my hubby, that was AWESOME. I was literally saying ‘weeeeeeeeee’ and laughing at the same time. Eko’s ears almost look like the hat Sally Fields wore in ‘The Flying Nun’ a few times. Did you do that in iMovies?

  15. The ears are hilarious I loved it. I would ask for help but my cats could not be any slower LOL 🙂

  16. Eko is so beautiful and smart. Looks great jumping that net. I really enjoy his antics

  17. I’d love some pointers!

Is the original footage digital and you did all the editing with Adobe Premiere? I have a Canon Powershot that has a record button and some good “movies” of Optimus swimming. What’s my first step (after buying the Adobe)?
