Pets Can Be Lazy Too

Yesterday’s post about Eko oversleeping reminded me of another of his infrequent but hilarious habits.  You might never guess it but Eko has a serious lazy streak dating back to his puppy days.  From the beginning,  Eko’s lazy-bone ways have always been strongest when sunbathing.  Sometimes he just can’t

Sometimes he just can’t be bothered to move an inch.

With me as a human-pillow on one side and the sun streaming in on the other, the normally rambunctious puppy-Eko would sluggishly whine if I tried to get him up

Even when he’s not tired, lazy Eko won’t budge from a sunny spot

My favorite part about lazy Eko is his total lack of motivation.  The words “outside” and “treat” normally send him into a frenzy, but lazy Eko only yawns at them.  Here you can see the process in action:

Lazy Eko, perfectly comfortable

I manged to get him to lift his head when I said “treat.”  Here you can see him contemplating my proposal

Here you can see lazy Eko realize that to get the treat he will have to move

And here you can see lazy Eko decide there is always time for treats later

We’re normally going full speed so I certainly don’t begrudge Eko slowing things down every once in a while.  It also doesn’t hurt that it cracks me up to watch him yawn and yowl on the couch.  Does your pet have any lazy habits?
