Either My Dog Grew Or My House Shrunk

In elementary school I would have argued that my school had to be one of the biggest buildings on the planet.  It felt like there were miles of hallways and endless stairways that climbed to the heavens.  Of course when I returned to the school a few years ago

In elementary school I would have argued that my school had to be one of the biggest buildings on the planet.  It felt like there were miles of hallways and endless stairways that climbed to the heavens.  Of course when I returned to the school a few years ago I felt like a giant in a world that I only remembered from a very different perspective.  This week in NJ I have gotten a few good chuckles as adult-Eko tries to figure out what happened to the world puppy-Eko grew up in.

One bed used to be plenty of room for Scout and Eko

Things are a bit more crowded in the corner of the kitchen these days

And one chair was more than enough space for Eko to stretch out and sunbathe

“Hey Will, did you guys get a new, smaller chair?” – Nothing will stop Eko from sunbathing, but it’s certainly a bit more cozy out there these days

As a puppy, the kitchen table was Eko’s version of a tree fort.  It was a place where he could go and no one else could fit.  Speaking of not fitting…

Eko’s head can barely fit under the table now!

Home is always home, but whether you are a human or a pet there are no guarantees it will look like what you remember!

aaww Eko. We do grow up in the world. When I was little, I fit perfectly in my first travel condo that I came home in. These days – snorts, I can hardly get my head in it let alone my pot belly. But don’t you worry my friend. You are still as handsome as ever!! XOXO – Bacon

  6. Emmadog says:

That is so very true! Mom says places she remembers as huge when she was a child are so small now. I think my sister Katie feels the same way. I am still not all that big, so I don’t notice it as much. I guess Eko has to figure out the best spots all over again with his larger stature!

  7. joanb49 says:

Aww Eko, you’ll always be Will’s baby!

  8. Marcela says:

Omg, Eko grew so much. The first thing I look at when seeing a puppy for the first time happens to be his feet. If his feet are really big, usually not proportioned with the rest of his body, he is going to be a big boy. What a handsome boy you have Will:)

  9. Boomdeeadda says:

Awesome comparison photo’s, just loved that Will. It’s really remarkable how they grow so fast. Baby Eko is beyond cute and he hasn’t changed a bit.

  10. onebluedog says:

Eko seems determined to relive the “old days” 🙂

  11. Sage says:

How true…going ‘home’, wherever that may be, is never the same. Especially if you haven’t been there since a pup!

  13. That’s too funny. You have to wonder what goes through a dogs head. Do they understand they are bigger?

  14. Misaki says:

The house definitely shrunk, no other explanation 🙂
