How can you tell I live in a dog-friendly neighborhood? Well, all the dogs in the area would probably be a dead giveaway I guess. But even when there are no dogs out there are plenty of signs that neighborhood businesses, institutions and residents are happy to have dogs around. All you have to do is look down.
Eko appreciates a nice water break in the middle of a walk or run
When the weather is nice my neighborhood is full of puppy-pit stops. They are great because on longer walks I don’t have to worry about Eko needing water. At the deluxe pit stops Eko can even snag a treat.
I thought this was a photo of Eko sniffing the treats, but look at the tongue on that little thief!
At the next pit stop I made sure the cap was on the treats before I took a photo. That didn’t seem to deter Eko though…
Thumbs are overrated I guess!
Filling a bowl with water or leaving out a few treats is a small act of kindness but it is one which I really appreciate. I have not had the chance to meet the owners of most of the (many) pit stops Eko and I have visited along the way but I hope they know we are grateful for their generosity. I’m looking forward to paying it forward one day.
It must be so nice to live in such a dog-friendly neighborhood!
Eko gets style and speed points for that theft! Very nice neighborhood. You guys are lucky.
That is awesome! Water is hard to find most of the time when we are out so we have to bring our own.
That’s very nice of your neighbours. I would give Eko a treat too, when I will meet him. :o)
Very clever boy!
I think that’s really lovely! In our small town, many of the shop owners have water dispensers out on the sidewalk in front of their stores and most of their dogs are in their shop windows watching the world go by – I love it ! Looks to me like Eko is happy with the situation there too!!!!!

Good job snagging a treat out of that jar, E. Quick and smooth! There are no jars of treats on my walks, usually, but once I found a McDonald’s apple pie in the street with ANTS on it! I was excited, but Mom said the word, “Don’t you dare!” Buzzkill.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
That is amazing that the neighbors leave treats and water out for everyone to use.

We once had a mailman who chucked actual pieces of mail at Cody was he was trying to say hi to the mailman. Then Cody learned about pepper spray. I think that the mailman didn’t realize Cody was just trying to day hi. But in Cody’s defense, we’ve never had a mailman who we saw two days in a row.
Lol. Your neighborhood is certainly dog friendly. That is so cool:)
Jerry and I can tell if a small town is “dog friendly” by how many water bowls are sitting outside of the shops/stores. Our latest winner is Jackson, Wyoming.
Delightful! I see dog bowls around town and always smile. I have four cats, but I keep a jar of dog treats in my garage and offer them to passersby.
What a lovely neighbourhood you live in 🙂
