We Love New York

I grew up about a twenty minute train ride from New York City and worked there after college. NYC is great for a lot of reasons, but I particularly love it for its limitless cast of characters.  You never who or what you might see on any given day.

Eko was distraught when he learned that this wasn’t a plush toy

And quite confused by the robot noises this guy made

Not all the characters are human either. Eko tried to make sense of why this dog in central park wouldn’t play with him

We act like cartoon characters, so a NYC artists helped us make the full transition!

The only thing better than the characters in New York City is the character of New York City.  Today, and every day, I find hope in one of my favorite quotations from Fred Rogers, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me. ‘Look for the helpers.  You will always find people who are helping.”

Eko and I were fortunate enough to meet Eli, one of many canine helpers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11

The tragedy of 9/11 showed the true resolve and character of the city.  I am thankful for and inspired by each and every helper.
