As soon as we hit the beach, Eko heads out to chest deep water to search for treasure worth diving for
Last week Eko would only dive nose deep, as seen above, but this week he appears to be much bolder
Eko is a dog on a mission and to get his prize he is willing to put nearly his entire head under water
Check that, he is willing to put his ENTIRE head under water!
If Eko keeps this up it looks like I’m going to have to make an investment:
Hopefully they come in Eko’s size (Photo by Gene Alba)
An incredulous onlooker asked me how I taught a Ridgeback to go under water. I told him the truth, “I didn’t!”
Lol! Wow. Look at Eko go. Whee wouldn’t do it but it looks like you think it’s lots of fun!

You’d look cuuuwooooowooooote in scuba gear!
Wow – Eko is so adventurous – what was he diving for? Treat or ball?
Oh I’m sure he will be the next Eko Ballard :o) …but you have still Mr. U-Boat in your circle of friends :o)
He might be up for a scuba adventure! Can’t wait for the post about Eko in scuba training 🙂
I’m looking forward to the scuba diving video 😆
Will, as always, you and Eko are a riot:)
I think Eko has been hanging out with Riley too much – it is definitely a Vizsla behavior. Hobbes loves to ‘drown’ his toys in the pool so he can go down and get them 🙂
Your Eko is a ‘One-of-a-kind’ uuber cool Ridgeback dude. Maybe he’ll really find treasure and you can all retire to paradise together and be a scuba family…oh, whoops, got all daydreamy there. For now, have fun at the lake.
BOL I would love to see Eko in that!
As much as Eko loves the water, he may not be convinced to hauling scuba gear around on his back. It would be great if he did agree to it, but until then see if you can find him a “Parrot-Head” shirt, ala Jimmy Buffet. I’d loan him one of mine, but he wouldn’t want to give it up once he starts getting attention from all the girl dogs. Females just seem to go for surfers.
I had no idea Ridgebacks were known for their disdain of water because mine LOVES it. The beach, the lake, sprinklers, you name it! We took her kayaking and she made a game of running as fast as she could to the front of the boat and diving in, then swimming to the back to get back on and repeat. Her face when she jumped was pure joy. Definitely no fear or disdain of the water in this Ridgeback’s life!
