Three days into his stay with us, Cash seemed more at ease.  As recommended by a number of readers, I took Eko and Cash on a few walks together which definitely helped them be more comfortable with each other.  That said, they still seemed a world apart.

In the apartment, Eko and Cash kept their distance and generally ignored each other

While I was glad both pups were relaxed, I hoped that a good romp might help both pups get over their indifference to one another.  That’s why I called in the reinforcements and had our friend Rachel and her pup Riley come over for a run.  I figured if Cash saw how much fun Eko and Riley have together he couldn’t help but warm up.

Riley and Eko have a unique way of saying hello – aka jumping all over each other!  Cash was a bit wary, but I could tell that he was itching for some fun so we took the three dogsketeers for a run

It’s funny how much Cash’s personality changed once we got going.  His quite, reserve demeanor melted away and he became a romping, outgoing pup.

run 2-1

I sprinted through the park with Eko and Cash and felt like I had a jet engine on each arm!  They were both so happy

I can’t say enough about how one simple run helped Cash and Eko become friendly. Something about running and romping works wonders.  I mean, check out these three afterwards.

Always room for friends on the couch!

Like Rick said in Casablanca, “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

Comments for All For Run, Run For All

  1. Bongo says:

Wish I could come over and be friends too. That romping looks like great fun.

  2. Victoria says:

Wow – watch out Dog Whisperer – here comes Will the Dog Working Wonder!!! And his sidekick Eko who can turn any pup into his pal!

  3. That is awesome. We aren’t always real welcoming in the beginning, but once the right activity comes up, we all get into it and become good friends. Now with one dog in each hand you are getting a great upper body workout along with your legs on a run!

  4. Omg I LOVE this story! Running really is pretty much the greatest thing in the world! Now if only I could have gotten our cat and dog to run together when we first got the pup…haha

  5. Awwwww hooray! Making new furfriends and playing is great fun! ^_^
