By this point in my life, I should know better than to open my big mouth. I was just telling someone how much I loved the mild fall we’re having here, and not four hours later it starts snowing.
Eko enjoyed watching the first flurries of the season
Up until this week, Eko the blanket monster has kept warm with just blankets. But now that colder weather is here to stay, blankets alone just won’t do.
Eko loves Emily, and while this photo may look lovey-dovey, Eko is really jockeying for space. Why?
Because he always has to be closest to his winter pacifier, the space heater
For the most part, it’s warmer, cheaper and easier for me to use a space heater during the day. Actually, it’s always warmer and cheaper, but it’s never easier. Because this is what happens when I bring the space heater by my desk…
“And just what do you think you’re doing over here, Will?”
I sit on a rolling chair, so Eko has learned to nudge me over so that he can plant himself right in front of the heater
Dogs are no fools, they know that if we like something, there is a good chance they will like it too. Now that Eko knows how nice the space heater is, there’s no getting around him using it. The nice part though is that I know if I put his winter pacifier in front of the couch…
He’s fast asleep in no time
As for me? I guess I’ll be wearing a lot of extra sweaters this winter.
Or get another space heater…although Eko will undoubtedly think it’s his also!
Yep – more important they are comfy than you -thats how we work too only in reverse – both of my dogs have thick winter coats and like the house cold -so the heat is set at 64 degrees….we bundle up and at night throw a few dogs on the bed for warmth!
I agree with Eko, I prefer the chimney :o) It’s important to stay warm with short and thin hair when you have no clothes what keeps you warm :o)
Eko is one smart pooch! We pet parents always give in on things like this, don’t we? We’ll freeze or swelter as long as our pups are comfy. Love the photos!
I like to be warm and lie in the sunshine, Bailie has discovered the fireplace, Katie looks for a cold spot with all her fur. You best buy more sweaters, Will, Eko needs that heater!
Lol. Poor Will, and smart Eko. Alex, and I am not lying about this, places herself next to the heater. I have to move her a bit because I am afraid she’ll get hurt. I think our canine kids are smarter than us:)
Awww looks like someone is furry comfortable. When it gets really cold here they put the fire on and it’s lovely to cuddle with the hoomans in front of that!

Yep – better stock up on sweaters….where there’s a heater – there’s gonna be an Eko!
Pam
I’m soooo jealous of your snow!
Stay warm guys
Oh cute. I think we’ll need one of those when we go back to Europe. Tala being a desert hound starts shivering when Hanoi drops to 60 degrees in the winter….
Eko and you are super cool! Kicki is my RR and I know how to make her happy! Sorry! Cant give you a link. Hug Eko! Markus and Kicki from Sweden!
oh those paws LOL 🙂
I love your stories, Will. I too was going to suggest a second space heater. One of our cats has a heated bed so she manages to stay cozy that way. Our arthritic cat didn’t like it at all, which surprised me. She likes body heat more than anything, preferring someone’s lap first (preferably my husband’s) and if not, a blanket on the boys beds.
I’m in love with Eko. There…I said it. 🙂
Sharing on Facebook, too.
Love that last picture!! Eko is smart and he knows where to find warmth and comfort for sure. Maybe a larger space heater would serve you both. This post made me laugh that sweet Eko is one fun dog! Hugs and nose kisses
