102 Years Of Christmas

Earlier this week Eko spent time lounging with my 103-year-old grandpa.  But on Christmas day Eko spent time with Ceci, Emily’s niece, who is just about 102 years younger than my grandpa.  Eko and Ceci met in Chicago, but Ceci has learned a lot of new tricks

Earlier this week Eko spent time lounging with my 103-year-old grandpa.  But on Christmas day Eko spent time with Ceci, Emily’s niece, who is just about 102 years younger than my grandpa.  Eko and Ceci met in Chicago, but Ceci has learned a lot of new tricks since then.  She is up and walking these days and at first she was just a bit skeptical of my big pup.

Ceci The Uncertain

Just like her Aunt Emily when I first asked her on a date, Ceci makes an excellent “I’m not so sure about this guy” face

Ceci’s newest trick is learning to talk. She knows animal sounds and when she saw Eko she would say “ROAAR!” It was fun watching her build confidence.  At first she ran from Eko, but by the end of the night she would run around the house looking for him.

Ceci The Brave

I have to admit, I was a bit nervous that Eko might unintentionally knock Ceci over, but he proved me wrong.  When he got near to Ceci he would either walk around her or plant a soft kiss on her before moving on.  My favorite was when he kissed the back of her head and by the time she turned around Eko was already out of the room. Ceci was quite confused.

Eko gets plenty of socialization work in Chicago, but the holidays provided a couple unique opportunities to work with Eko on good manners around infants and the elderly.

“Nice work, Eko” I said.  “You’re blocking the fire, he said!”

After the frenzy of Christmas, Emily and Eko are catching up on some much needed rest

Hope everyone had a great week and hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.  A book, a fire and Eko curled up by my side is just about all the excitement I’m looking for!

Comments for 102 Years Of Christmas

  1. Adorable photos! My niece will turn 1 on the 29th. She’s walking and running, but is still just babbling with the occasional “mama” “dada”.

Her favorite thing is to rub her face on Apollo, who follows her around trying to get her to pet him, and she likes stroking Missy’s ears. Missy is usually too fast for her to catch though.

  2. Emmadog says:

Dogs have an instinct that normally keeps them from harming puppies which is why we either are real gentle with them or try to get away because we don’t want to hurt them. I think we have that instincts with human babies. Unfortunately, neither instinct is 100%, so humans still need to watch over us, but it is interesting. We often are more scared of those mini humans than they are of us! Enjoy your relaxation!

  3. Well done Eko – sounds like a good Christmas.

  4. Good work being well behaved, Eko. You have good command of your giant body. I was so wild and excited on Christmas morning, that Mom was afraid I’d hurt myself. So all my toys got picked up and I was punished. When she wasn’t looking, I drank her coffee. I had nothing to lose at that point….

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  5. “you’re blocking the fire,’ he said. LOL LOL LOL

  6. Oh little kids and dogs always make for fun stories and sweet photos…looks like you boys had a mighty fine time for the holiday!!!

    Hugs, Sammy and Pam

  7. Misaki says:

Hope you had a lovely time xx

  8. Jorie says:

What a well-behaved dog you have, Will! Seems like such a gentle dude. Glad you both had a good holiday!
