Things didn’t look good.  Eko stalked for any signs of life…

This is the shoreline we were looking for

But this is the shoreline we found

Eko and Riley scoured the sand for signs of life, but it was ice as far as the eye could see

Eko took once last look across the thick ice and was ready to call off the search until he heard a cheerful yelp from Riley.  She  found water!

And for some strange reason, dove right into it!

Eko did not share Riley’s enthusiasm to join the polar bear club, so we quickly dashed back to the heated car to dry Riley off.  We’re happy to report the beach is still very much there, but I think we’ll hold off on playing fetch in the water for a few more months.
