My Lucky Charm

Life is good. I have a wonderful fiancée, steady work as a freelance writer, a roof over my head, and of course, the best dog a guy could ask for.  Although I don’t know what the future holds, I am confident and I am ready for it.

Not so long ago, this was not the case. I was adrift in life and lacked direction.  I found my anchor in Eko.  I never could have guessed the blog I started would find sponsorship through Petcentric.com and kick off the adventure of a lifetime.

Had I not been exactly where I was or gotten Eko exactly when I did, who knows where I would be now?  And for that reason, today and every day, Eko is my lucky charm.

Better than a pot of gold

I recently had the opportunity to write an essay for my college magazine about how I found Eko, found the road and found myself. You can check it out here. I’m lucky to have Eko to remind me to find meaning in the journey and purpose in the process.

In related news, we’re putting the finishing touches on the Petcentric.com update of our blog. I love the big new visuals an I’m excited to have it up and running full time. (Thanks for all the helpful feedback!)  All posts are updated daily, so you can check it out, but we’re still tweaking the comment box.

I’ll be sure to follow up with an announcement in early April when it’s all-system-go.  And who knows, that might not even be the biggest announcement of the day…

Catch you tomorrow, my lucky charm needs a hug!

  4. We are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HAPPY FOR YOU!!! “Fiancee?” Did you recently get engaged? CONGRATULATIONS!! Be sure we know where to follow you when everything is done, we don’t want to lose you!!!! You are OUR lucky charm! You make our day! (of course, Eko too!)

  5. I agree, Eko is much better than a pot of gold and a barrel of green beer! He is the greatest gift ever :o) Happy St. Patricks Day!

  6. Marcela says:

Congratulations Will. I am so glad that you, like so many of us pet parents, changed and found direction in your life because of a canine kid. I know people without dogs do not understand those of us pet parents, but dogs truly can change our lives in such a way that, and I say this from experience, I am sure we would not have been able to do it on our own. The best to you and Eko:-)

  7. PigLove says:

aaww – how very lucky you *both* are my friend. That indeed! XOXO – Bacon

  8. Will, I read your essay and just loved it! I can see why Petcentric gave you the job and the journey that you describe is exactly what life is about! You are most fortunate to have discovered so soon in your working life the truth of job status versus personal fulfillment.

You write really well, are obviously a young man with high ideals and good sense [kudos to mum and dad!] and you have Mr Eko [and the lovely bride-to-be] ……… your life seems very rich and abundant to me. It’s not luck – it’s good fortune and you deserve it!! 🙂

  9. Well done, E. You are for sure a big, lovable pot of gold! Plus you are magical in a million ways. Are you a secret leprechaun?

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

Will, that was really a great read at your alumni magazine. As are your posts at Marking Our Territory. I can’t exactly remember how I ended up here. I just know one visit lead to another and another and needless to say, like so many other fans, I’ve been hooked ever since. Congratulations for finding a path that you wanted to follow. Being young affords you the opportunity to take many detours along the way. With Eko by your side I know it’ll all be great fun. Cheers, Boomdee

  11. Rose says:

I love reading about you and Eko’s adventures. But the honesty in this post/ the article I really appreciate. Thanks for sharing your life with other pet lovers. And thanks for your positive attitude about life being an adventure!

  12. Emma says:

You guys are awesome and so lucky to have found your path together in life. Mom says we helped her find out where she wants to be too 🙂 Happy St. Paddy’s day!

  13. Whee are so glad you are so happy with life. Whee know that when Mummy got us she was in a tough place. Fighting ill health meant she didn’t leave the house often and when she did she never knew what to discuss. Whee became her topic starter, her ‘thing’. Whee helped her find a circle of furfriends online and in real life and build up some great relationships. Now she is all better and she puts a lot of it down to us. Pets really can change and save your life!
