Real estate week continues here on the blog with the happy news that we have found a new place to live. Wahoo, for a bit I was worried we might have to move into the pothole at the end of our street.

While it is quite spacious, I don’t think the pothole would have worked for us

It was not easy finding a good place to live that worked for both human and dog, but I think we did a good job. The new spot is a walk-up which is smaller than our current place, but it has an updated kitchen and an in-unit washer/dryer which we currently lack. Sadly, there is no fireplace, but “tis’ better to have loved and lost,” I guess.

I’m hoping to mitigate the loss of the fireplace by positioning one of the couches in front of these windows. The new apartment gets a lot more light than our current one

And that means plenty of extra sun for this guy to work on his tan

I don’t have any good photos of the apartment interior, but those will be plentiful in short order.  In less than a month we’ll be all moved in.  The new spot is not far from our current place so luckily we won’t have to give up our favorite haunts. But there will be plenty of new places to see, new people to meet and new friends to make. Eko checking if the locals needed an extra player for basketball

Another nice perk of our place is that we have a shared back patio that’s fenced in. You can’t see in this photo, but behind Eko and down the side is a nice little area where he’ll be able to hang out off-leash

The good news is that we have a home. The bad news is that I have to start packing. It’s times like these I wish Eko had opposable thumbs.

Comments for We have a home!

  1. YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! You know, they sell these portable fireplaces that look like real and they are under $200 I think!!! My “bonus” daughter has one and they give off heat!! Thank goodness you found a place and sooooooo fast (that pot hole is a BAD idea lol!!) Glad you are still in the neighborhood, that will be one less thing to adjust to. Everything happens for a reason, so I bet you will love this place! Wish we lived closer to help you move!

Whoohoo, so glad you have found somewhere nice!

I don’t envy you on the packing though 😉

Sounds awesome Will. It’s fabulous to have a nice off leash patio too. I haven’t announced this on my Blog yet, but we’ve also just bought a house. We get possession June 6th. Very relieved as the housing market is banana’s here. We’re still very close to downtown, the river valley and all the trails we love. Can’t wait to see your new digs. Happy packing 😉

    Woooohooowoooooooo!

Excellent news! Congratulations to you all! Hopefully packing and moving goes easily, and you’ll be snug in the new place in no time. 🙂

  7. Happy house moving!! 🙂

I am so happy you found such a dog friendly place – outside area for him to be off leash and plenty of sun to bath in! Good luck on packing it all up and moving down the road – i know thats not fun but i bet Eko will be a great help.

  9. I’ll expect Eko will try to redecorate to his needs and wants in the new apartment?? I’ll suspect he’ll want to claim best sunbathing areas to himself.

  10. Congratulations!! Sounds like a great spot – sunny, some “off-leash” space for Eko and close enough you can keep haunting your favorite haunts! Bravo…..having gone through the packing/unpacking (in the same house of course 😉 ) recently I know it’s not fun BUT it’s a necessary evil! Then you’ll be “home sweet home” – again!

    Congrats on the new pad!

We are doing the happy dance for you! We are happy you found a new home. We hope the move goes smoothly and when you get all settled in you will enjoy it very much. It sounds like a very nice place and Eko being able to have a place to tan and a place to spend off-leash is great. Hugs and nose kisses

  13. Glad to see you found a place, but I hear you about packing though. I’m terrible, I just buy a bunch of hefty bags and throw everything in together. After the first time I did that, I did end up buying some totes for my kitchen items.

Much luck in your new home!

  14. Concats on finding a place that is in your desired area with the perks of sunny windows and a play yard!

  15. Elyse says:

Great news –congratulations. And I’m pretty sure that Eko will get the hang of packing — my shepherd, Goliath, put a toy in just about every box I turned my back on. He didn’t seem to worry that I would leave HIM behind, but he wasn’t sure all his friends would make it!

  16. Moving is a great opportunity to rid yourself of things you no longer need (or didn’t know you had). It’s amazing what ends up in cupboards, closets and drawers.

I’m so glad you found a place close-by. In-unit laundry is a huge plus. I hope Eko enjoys the new patio and the extra bit of sun. Maybe you can line up three space heaters in a row and arrange some rocks around them to make a pretend fireplace.

  17. fozziemum says:

So glad you don’t have to take up residence in the pot hole…full of exotic smells as I am sure it is…but packing…erghhhh we all hate it..and then the unpacking…and yes why Eko can’t help is beyond me…Fozziemum

  18. Fantastic news – we can’t wait for the house warming party!

WoooHoooooo we are so pleased you didn’t have to rent the pot hole BOL.. We can’t wait to see some photo’s. Have a super weekend xxoxxx

  20. Yay! New place! Glad to hear it! Especially if it’s super sunny! 🙂 And if that doesn’t work out for you, it’s nice to hear that you’ve got the lovely pothole as a back up 😉

  21. Emmadog says:

At least the stress of the hunt is over. I’m sure you will settle in and love your new place just find. Remember to buy a big pack of cheap paper towels to pack your dishes, glasses and other kitchen fragile items in. Doing that you don’t need to wash when you get to the new place as they will still be clean (not the case if using newspaper) and you will have a box of paper towels to use for cleaning up messes for many months.

  22. Caitlin says:

    Yay, awesome news!

  23. I go away for a week and you have solved your where to live problems – Good job!!
Great opportunity to get rid of the accumulations that we tend to somehow – well, accumulate 🙂 And I’m guessing that wherever Eko sees you hang your hat – that will be his home.

  24. pawedblog says:

Congratulations, that is such great news. It sounds like it is going to be wonderful, and somewhere for off-leash time for Eko is such a bonus. Though, to be fair, if the pothole was staring to look like a good option then ANYTHING else was a winner!
