A peek into a future with two dogs

The wheels are in motion to bring home Eko’s little sister (more on that in a later post!) but I think I got an early peek into some of the fun Eko will have with a little sibling. Spring is undoubtedly new-dog season in Chicago. We’ve seen new pups of all ages
The wheels are in motion to bring home Eko’s little sister (more on that in a later post!) but I think I got an early peek into some of the fun Eko will have with a little sibling. Spring is undoubtedly new-dog season in Chicago. We’ve seen new pups of all ages at some of our favorite haunts. Yesterday at the beach a 7-month-old pup sauntered down the beach and showed me what I hope will be a common sight in the near future.DSC05215-1

She sauntered down shoreline with the Eko’s favorite stick. Why was it his favorite? Because she had it and he didn’t. Eko wanted to change that

He romp-bowed to try to run her off the prize

But she dug in and snatched the stick up

She evaded both Eko and his hired muscle, then took offDSC05221-1

The chase was on!

The pup led Eko on a high speed pursuit up and down the beach

Eko closed the gap…

And finally caught his prey. Unfortunately, the pup quickly realized Eko is a big sissy and would never steal the stick from her mouth. That’s when she started teasing him

“Nah-nahnah-nah-nah!” But the pup forgot one thing while taunting Eko…

Her stick! Eko giddily trotted off with the whining youngster in tow. Although I was quite please with his brotherly solution to the dilemma

Sharing is caring

If our trip to the beach is any indication, Eko and I are in for a fun summer with the newest addition to our family.

So much to look forward to. Looks like Eko is practicing hard for his new sister! Can’t wait to hear more info on her.

  3. I’m sure it is the right decision, two pups are fabulous!

THis is the kind of fun I am going to have this weekend when Riley comes to visit. Woof!

  5. Victoria says:

i think Eko looks like the kind of dog who won’t mind your second pup at all – as long as he gets his play time and nap time w/you too! Thats the challenge cuddling and playing w/both of them and still being able to give them both some of their own time with you. But its the best and most wonder challenge a person could have.

  6. Emmadog says:

He is great age to have a younger sibling…still a pup at heart but mature enough that you can rely on him to do what he is asked. He will have a blast like Katie and I did. I have lots of fun with Bailie, but being seven years older is a lot and sometimes she does get on my nerves and I don’t put up with as much nonsense as I used to. We certainly have awesome chase and wrestle games, though!

  7. Misaki says:

I love the ‘i’ve got the stick, chase me’ game too. Eko is going to make a fab big brother

  8. Yay! Puppy!!! Cant wait 🙂

  9. I think he’s going to make a good big bro! Great photo-story.

  10. He is going to be a brilliant big brother!

Great photos! That’s one of the best parts about having more than one dog! Seeing them play together never, ever gets old or fails to raise a smile!
