Just look at that sweet girl…how could I let this little delicate flower be poked, prodded and injected?

The welcome sign was a nice touch for Penny’s first visit, but Penny can’t read yet so she didn’t fully appreciate the gesture

There we were, alone in the exam room with one last chance to make a break for it and escape the needles and syringes

Ok, so I’m playing up the drama a tad, but I did feel bad I couldn’t warn Penny about the impending discomfort. As I lifted Penny to the exam table, I saw visions of puppy-Eko squirming, whining and crying.

All I can say is that Eko is lucky Penny wasn’t around when he was a puppy because she would have called him a big sissy. Despite the increasingly invasive exam (hello, thermometer!) Penny remained unflappable. The vet warned the vaccine shot might elicit a yelp or bite, but it barely raised a yawn from Penny.

After Eko finished his puppy vaccinations, he couldn’t get out of the office fast enough. Penny on the other hand appears to be a glutton for punishment.

“What else ya got for me doc?”

And I guess my little masochist didn’t get her fill at the vet because when we got home she decided to pick a fight.

Penny jumped off the couch onto an unsuspecting Eko. He was not quite so calm once she landed

Apparently Eko and I are just a couple of softies. But Drill Sergeant Penny has made it clear she is going to toughen us up!

Go get ’em, Penny! 🙂 I am woman, hear me roar! LOL

  2. Victoria says:

what a good girl – we women handle suffering better than men – sorry but its true – Rigs is a boy and he can whine like no other – muffin on the other hand keeps a stiff upper lip and endures and she of course is a girl!!! HA HA

  3. She is such a cute girl… she knows that not even the vet with all his needles could do something what will hurt when he sees her face :o) Probably it was Penny’s way to give Eko a back massage? I like the way your vet welcomes his clientele :o)

  4. fredrieka says:

High Paw Penny I to much like Eko momwithoutpaws calls me a drama queen

  5. harrispen says:

You are one tough girl Penny just like me.

Millie (the pup who got a stick up her nose and barely flinched)

  6. raisingdaisy says:

Wow, you’re one strong girl there, Penny! Good for you! Daisy used to love the vet, but after the first couple of shots, she became more and more of a sissy (just like her mommy!). Now she’s reached the point where she refuses to go up the steps to the front door of the vet’s office! Maybe you can teach her a little bit about bravery….? 😉

  7. Kyla says:

Shots are no big deal for me anymore. I get one every 25 days for my Addison’s Disease and it’s old hat. If I didn’t have it, I’d die. 9:20 tomorrow is my next one and I’m cool with it.

  8. Misaki says:

    Well done Penny, girl power!

  9. Emmadog says:

Women are tough in any species I guess. I am a complete whimp at the vet. Sometimes I won’t even go in, and have to be carried as I shake like a leaf, but Bailie still loves to go as if it is a fun place. Very odd!

  10. I told you! This girl has chutzpah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. pawedblog says:

Haha brilliant!.. Out of my three the only one that has been a whiner is Myfie – the boy! I’m just sayin’ 😉
    Hugs, Carrie and pups x

Steffi has always been a quivering mess while I hold her waiting for the vet. They’ve always taken her in to the back to do her exams/vaccinations and once I’m out of her sight she’s a perfect angel. The vets have said she even falls asleep getting her shots. Never had a problem with the vaccinations.

  13. Your “delicate flower” is quite the thrill seeker.

    Can’t wait for your Instagram.

  14. I think Penny just made the vets day! Haha!

  15. OMGoodness, Penny! I was at the vet today too. I got a shot and a checkup. I was not afraid. I kissed the doctor a hundred times, and didn’t bat an eye when she stuck me with the needle. We girls are tougher than we look.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  16. Penny charmed the vet to bits – I could tell he was under her spell (I think maybe you and Eko are too!!!!).

    Pam

  17. Great vet experience loved the pictures. I’ve seen a wipe off board before with dogs names on it for the day. I keep thinking we should do that at our clinic. Did you really think it was nice and something that should be done?

  18. Girls are just tougher than guys…

  19. Marcela says:

Lol. Penny is much more brave than Eko. You go Penny!

  20. Mags Corner says:

What a go-getter that cute little Penny is. Love those pictures of her at the Vet. Too cute!! We bet he does not see too many like her when they get poked and prodded. Hugs and nose kisses
