The Art of Sibling Blame

As someone who is both a younger brother and an older brother, I am well versed in the art of tactical sibling maneuvers. For example, as a treat my mom would buy us a box of doughnuts. Each kid was allotted two doughnuts over the course of the week. Week? Yeah right.
As someone who is both a younger brother and an older brother, I am well versed in the art of tactical sibling maneuvers. For example, as a treat my mom would buy us a box of doughnuts. Each kid was allotted two doughnuts over the course of the week. Week? Yeah right. As a younger sibling I learned I had to eat both of my doughnuts immediately or else one would be stolen. Given our circumstances, younger siblings have to be crafty. And from what I can see with Penny, younger siblings across all species share similar tactics. While hunting in the shadows, Penny caught herself a sock that strayed from the herd

But when I flipped on the lights she tried to pull the old “Yawnnn, nothing going on here”

And then stretch and act perplexed as to why the sock was under her paws

“Oh, this sock? No, you’re mistaken, it’s not for me.”

“I’m just returning it to the guy who actually took it.”

“Can you believe Eko took that sock? What a naughty brother I have. Eko you should be ashamed of the example you’re setting for me!”

“Will, tell me you’re not buying this.”

Luckily for Eko, I’ve been around the sibling block a few times and I certainly know the old “my brother made me do it” trick quite well. Penny’s going to have to get a bit more creative if she hopes to get one by me.

And I never would thought I’d see the day when wild-dog Eko would be the model canine citizen! There’s hope for Penny yet.

This is why older siblings were invented! (as written by a youngest child)

  2. Victoria says:

she’s a smart little girl for sure – that is too cute – how did she know so young to throw the evidence Eko’s way? Guess as the older sib (the one who got blamed for everything) I’ll never know!

  3. Emmadog says:

Lots of sibling stuff in Blogville today, with my house this is the third “crime” committed. Poor Eko, he looks like Katie, totally ashamed to be blamed. Penny’s day will come when she really gets caught with her paws in the treat jar! She may also add a cat to her Christmas list to use as a scapegoat, so be on the lookout 😉

  4. now you need to write a book………you have PRICELESS material here!

  5. Ogee says:

Very cute. But put those socks away. We removed three from our boy’s stomach last year. No fun at all!

  6. Being the oldest of between my brother and I, I didn’t catch the blame for things he did. We were (and still are) completely two different kids, even with a 17 month difference in age. Neither of us are angels by any means but we were good kids/adults.

  7. Kuruk says:

    Pawfect downward doggie Penny! Wooooowooooooo!

  8. fredrieka says:

well if momwithoutpaws gets her way and gets me a paw friend then I hope it is older so I can still be the young one

  9. Kyla says:

I’m never guilty-I’m the oldest. The peeps know.

  10. Smooth moves, Penny. Your only problem is that your brother has his innocent face perfected, and his oh-please face down pat. You’re on your own, little girl.

  14. fozziemum says:

Haahha not only is it a younger sibling thing it is a girl flirt with dad thing….daddy’s little girls can really make a brothers life hard 😉 hugs Fozziemum xx

  15. That’s what little sisters do :o) Butt even when they do such things I wish I had one… it’s boring to be an only child :o)

  16. Penny, you’re going to have to get up pretty early in the morning to put one over on Eko..or Will.

  17. Marcela says:

Lol. Omg, Penny is a little too smart for her age, don’t you think?

  18. pawedblog says:

Hahaha! So clever, Penny… My pups don’t blame each other but they very often tittle tattle on each other. Well alright, it’s usually the Westies telling on Millie! Such a joy when you recognise similar behaviour isn’t it?
    Hugs, Carrie and pups x
