All smiles on a beautiful day
We like a spot about a mile from our apartment called Scooter’s. It’s the perfect distance for a nice walk and it has outdoor seating where we can hang with the pups.
It’s sweet torture for Eko to watch us eat
To cool the pups off after our walk, I asked a Scooter’s employee if she could refill the water bowl. She did me one better and offered me one of their specialty doggie cones. I have no idea how I missed this last time we went – jackpot!
The cone was pure bliss for the pups
Like a couple of true kids, Eko and Penny enthusiastically devoured half their treat and saved the other half on their faces
The people in line at Scooter’s window erupted in laughter and cheers at the Eko and Penny show. I think all agreed the pups had earned their very own taste of summer. We sat for a while longer – smiling, saying nothing, content – forgetting everything but the sweet taste of our treats and the warming rays of the sun.
Life is good!
Like summer itself, the moment passed quickly, but that’s what made it so perfect. Hope everyone finds their own perfect summer moment – (hint: It helps to have a pet with you!)
Penny is growing fast.. wow
Great post as always. I would only change one thing: I’d say Life is Great rather than good, but that is just my suggestion. Will, your family is so beautiful. You lucky person:-)
i love it – now you have to go back again – all of you to get another summer treat – its just been so humid here we just stick indoors -except for potty breaks and early morning romps outside to play (this morning it was 80 degrees at 830am – probably the same for you in Chicago)
Ohhh I love it!!!! Yay for walks and ice cream!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Penny has her paw draped across Emily’s arm and is smiling with her 🙂 Eko is such a gentleman………great shot!
Sadly our summer has either been a continuous down pour or hot and humid like a jungle. Despite the weather we have managed to get in plenty of fun, though. This reminds me I need to go to the drive in with Gramma to get my free dog cone! You dogs are so cute and Eko, you are so nice and patient.
Special doggie cones! Yay! Mom buys an extra empty cone just for me, so she can put tiny scoops of ice cream in it so I can eat a little at a time. The problem is, the car is filling up with rainbow sprinkles. It hard to nail those yummy things down, and they keep flying around the car when I lick them!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Life is good, my gang LOVES ice cream!!
Will and Eko what a HAPPY and beautiful post……….I always smile after reading about one of your adventures and now that Penny has joined the crowd, it’s better than ever! Will you and Emily are an adorable couple – I wish you all the luck in the world…..and I know Eko and Penny will be part of that world for years to come………thanks for bringing smiles to so many. Gosh that cone looks delish!!
Hugs, Pam (and Sam)
Is it my imagination or has Penny grown already?! Love that pic of her with Emily. I agree – ice cream from a yummy ice cream shop eaten outdoors in summer is the absolute best summer activity! 😀 We have a really good place here, and there’s a beautiful big field with some trees (for those who prefer shade) behind the building where they have lots of nice wooden porch chairs scattered about for their patrons. There’s always a wonderful breeze coming through the open field. I’ll never understand the people who prefer to stay inside the cold air conditioned building instead!
I love ice cream 🙂 You guys are adorable xxoxxxx

Isn’t Penny growing quickly! With all those tasty treats she will soon catch Eko up!!
Nacho, Noah, Buddy & Basil

We have a place near here, Emack & Bolios, and they have doggie sundaes. Frozen yogurt topped with whipped cream and bacon which the dogs believe is a serving of Heaven!
Penny and Eko are such a gorgeous pair, love them! Man I have serious puppy envy right now (as far as I’m concerned, every dog is totally a puppy at heart!)
Oh nooo. I’d love to have some ice cream but, after my bout with pancreatitis a year ago March, it is an extremely low to no fat diet for me. I hate the ‘d’ word.
Yummo …looks delish and so glad the pups had an ice cream 🙂 seems a real winner!! hugs Fozziemum
Gwynn loves getting icecream 🙂 there are a few hikes nearby that I specifically do because there’s an icecream shop at the end!
yes, Life is good! And I can see it in your faces (even through the ice cream) :o)
