When the weather’s nice and the sun’s shining, finding four-legged friends at the park or beach is easy. But come colder and grayer days, our favorite spots to romp are often empty. I can’t even count how many times this past winter I took Eko to the park, only for him to sniff around the barren ground, bored out of his mind.7.1

The once packed beached has already emptied out

But starting this year all that’s changed. No matter the day and no matter the weather, Eko will always have a four-legged friend to play with.

7.2

“You rang?”

It’s nice to know the days of boring trips to deserted parks are behind us.

7.3

And the days of sibling-attacks are here to stay

I’m happy the dogs have each other to look out for.

7.4

And have each other to use as actual lookouts

Even trips to the beach with just my two dogs and no one else can be an epic adventure.

7.5

Complete with epic battles

7.6

Sure, Penny’s a bit of a loudmouth, but I know Eko is glad to have her around

Eko’s always been an all-weather friend for me so I’m so glad that he now has an all-weather friend of his own. No matter what this fall/winter throw at us, there’s no doubt we’re going to have a lot of fun together!

This has become the best part of having two dogs… seeing how they can be company to the other whenever they are looking for company (or romping pals, or snoring pals).

  2. it’s great to have two dogs…. if I would get a second dog he should be like Easy… and I’m afraid I’m not strong enough for TWO dogs like Easy, so he has to be the only child :o)

  3. These photos are beautiful! 😀

  4. KDKH says:

Doesn’t Emily’s dog like to go?

  5. Emmadog says:

Siblings can be real pests but in the end, I’m glad to have them because there is always someone to have fun with!

  6. fredrieka says:

always good to have a paw friend. My friend Riley is coming Saturday woof woof pawtastic

  7. How sweet! Your minion has his own minion. You know, I’ve always thought Kahlua was more of a person dog and that having a sibling is not for him and might upset him. But when I had a long term foster, they played constantly and she provided him with experiences that I could not. And they always had each other no matter what. This makes a lot of sense. 🙂 I plan to adopt another as soon as I have my life plans in place which will hopefully be early next year.

i love to see your two pups romping together – always makes my day to watch my two play like they are 4 months old and can’t get enough play time in! Good for Eko -he has his forever playmate! and good for you and Emily too – you will never, ever be bored

  9. I’ve come to the conclusion that Ridgebacks all play the same. From your two, to my daughter’s neighbor dogs, to my own, there’s the same chest bumping, leg grabbing, and general climbing all over each other to get their mouth over the submissee’s neck. I don’t know how it’s possible to have just one. They really are each other’s pack. Until the space on the couch next to mom is open, then it’s each dog to his/her own.

  10. Jura says:

Love that set of photos! Amazing how they are almost the same height now! She’s looking very elegant now and less awkward puppy.

  11. Kyla says:

The dog park is deserted in February when there’s six feet of snow on the ground and the wind chill is 30 below. What’s this world coming to?

  12. Oskar loved it when his brother Jester joined us and he had a companion on his adventures too 🙂

  13. I just got my Ridgeback pup, Ruby, on Saturday and we are scheduling our first puppy play date with a lab/ridgeback pup who I hope will provide some of this romping for me. We live in Kenya and so far she’s pretty keen to try and play with the monkeys around the house…hopefully some of that energy gets burned when she meets Hazel because I don’t think she’d come out on top with the monkeys at her age.

  14. Ogee says:

Awesome. It’s so wonderful when two dogs truly bond the way Eko and Penny have (despite Eko’s pretense!)

  15. That has to be a big part of why people get two dogs. The interaction between them is brilliant!!

    xxxx

  16. Jen Gabbard says:

Love seeing dogs being best buddies, even if Penny can get a bit much it’s obvious Eko loves having her around.
