This Sunday is the 2014 Chicago Marathon and, like it or not, I’m running. Emily agreed to marry me, so I figured I should agree to run the marathon with her as an act of solidarity for similarly grueling tasks! Luckily I had two of the best personal trainers to get me in shape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBZooPhyut8 See everyone Monday…gulp… I hope!

  1. Victoria says:

Wow – good luck – thats a long way to run without being chased by something that can eat you!! Glad you trained w/the best!

  2. Good luck! As much as I love physical challenges and fitness, a marathon is something I just can’t fathom doing, so big ups to you!

  3. Bongo says:

Looks like you have the best trainers ever.

  4. coastingnz says:

Good luck – but most of all have fun. I’m sure your personal trainers will be cheering you on in spirit (more like thinking what the hell! why aren’t we going)!

  5. mk22llewis says:

good luck. what is the farthest you run the dogs?

  6. cdog5 says:

Best wishes on your marathon! I did one — once — many years ago. What I learned: one foot in front of the other … that’s what it takes, and that’s all it takes. 🙂

  7. pawedblog says:

Ahh I reckon many more people would get involved if they had those trainers around! Best of luck for Sunday!!
    Hugs, Carrie and pups x

  8. Emmadog says:

Best of luck to you! Mom has run two marathons. Katie trained her for the first one where she ran a 3:37. Katie ran up to 15 miles with her and Mom claims training with a dog was the best training method ever. The second one she trained alone and it did not go as well, only 4:09. One big plus is dogs love to charge hills. The last miles of the Twin Cities marathon are uphill, and many runners walk, not Mom. She was used to charging hills and kept replaying memory videos in her head of charging hills with us pups and it got her through. Can’t wait to hear how the race goes.

  9. Laura says:

    Good luck, Will!!!

  10. Kyla says:

I do marathons also. I use the Ruiz method.

  11. Congrats on the engagement and also doing the marathon, I give you both a lot of credit. Not for me at all.

  12. Jura says:

Good luck! Have you heard of canicross I’m keen to try it once I live in a place that has a club and races nearby.

  13. Good luck, I can’t believe that you will do it, but it sounds great! Fortunately you haven’t to type with your legs on monday about your adventure! Dogs are the personal trainers, so maybe you will win?

  14. Good luck tomorrow guys!

  15. erinalwon says:

So jealous that Eko runs with you! My little Miss Mayhem refuses to run at my speed. She’s actually pulled me over and dragged me down the trails in the past, that’s as close as we’ve come to running together. Good luck this weekend – I love marathons!

  16. Afterwards they’re all “Mmmm! Salt!” Cute how they licked your face off.

  17. Misaki says:

Wishing you the very best of luck!

  18. This year I started running properly and joined a club 🙂 so far done 3 half marathons, a 5 mile race and 4 x 10km
