If Penny and Eko don’t get to release a full burst of energy every other day or so, I’m in big trouble. That’s why we keep showing up to the beach, even when it looks like the aftermath of the apocalypse
When the pups are on, they are on! There’s no trotting or lazy strolls, just full throttle romps
When at full tilt, the pups are completely oblivious to everything else
Eko, cocked, loaded and ready to explode out of the barrel
But like fired bullets, Eko and Penny’s supersonic sprints have sudden endings.
Penny came to a screeching halt, felt the wind and came trotting over with her “take me home now” face
With the button pushed, the timer is reset and tranquility restored in my apartment.
As you saw in last week’s video, after a good romp these two transform into pieces of furniture
Down for the count
When “turned off,” Eko won’t even bother to move his head from underneath Penny’s paw
Like a lightswitch, Eko and Penny really only have two settings. But I do know plenty of pups who use their daily energy allotment quite differently. Some are happiest plodding on long walks and others like to take frequent trips around the house throughout the day.
What about you guys? How many “settings” do your pets have?
Easy has only a “full speed ahead” button. But sometimes I wish the mute button of my tv-remote would work too :o)
Sammie has three speeds: Energizer Bunny, Second Wind (see number 1), and Off (which seems to only happen on Sundays)
Kuddos for always using a great Lost fact to tie into your ‘characters’!
Oh boy, another great set of photographs of Eko and Penny! That photo of Eko with Penny’s paw on head is awesome. Nikita and Bella have their moments around the same time every day, but never thought of them as “settings”. Nikita loves to play a little game every evening with us – she selects a toy from her large toy box, places it on the floor, and then just stands there and waits. She waits for one of us to get up and chase her around the house. It’s so cute to watch every evening, as she will stand still for a long time until one of us notices her doing so, but when we start to walk over to her…game on & she grabs her toy and books it around the house. I love dog antics!
Omg Will. You take the best pictures ever of your furry kids. I love the one with Penny’s little paw on Eko’s forehead and also the one when she is sleeping. She looks like a little angel. Alex, my 12 1/2 year old pit mix, only had an on button until she was about 9 years old, after that she was between on and off. Lately she sleeps a lot so I’d say off. Bella, my 4 year old pit mix, is a perennial setting of On. There are days when my legs and feet hurt because I walk her so much. It’ll get better. In about 5 more years.
Katie and I used to be that way, but now it is Bailie and I. We need to get out and play a hard game of chase and wrestle every evening or we will destroy the house. Luckily we have a yard, but if we aren’t home, it is tough.
Now that they are seniors both Boomer and Dottie have lots of off button time with naps. But when that button gets pressed you’d think they were still young dogs!
I’m grateful that Rufus has always had a medium energy level. He really only goes crazy when the opportunity arises, which is actually often in case. However, the hound in him makes him pretty chill by nature.
I love the pic where its all heads and legs under the blanket – the perfect picture of serenity! Yeah theres an ON and its going full tilt and then an I’M DONE button.
I know for you sure our kids would love to play with your kids, they are so alike. Ziggy has more of an on/off switch than Nico – Nico is very cruisey and takes each day as it comes. Ziggy though needs a blow out and heaven help us if he doesn’t get it!
I have only one. “Hungry”. That’s it.
Sam has two – “semi-awake” and “down for the count” !
Pam
Great pictures 🙂 Eko in play pose and Penny is so sweet sleeping 🙂
Two ridgebacks equales flying carpets in our case if we don t take them for a walk two days. And it rained a lot in september.
Altough, we saw on youtube whats like when you have two playful ridgebacks at hone before we made the decission to get our second RR 😉
They are the sweetest fur monsters 🙂
so cute! I often describe the girls as being ‘on’ all the time… Myfie not so much, but one thing is for sure; they, none of them, have an ‘off button!
Hugs, Carrie & Pups x
Whee have many settings. Mummy just wishes there was a mute one for when she’s watching telly!
I too have to get Gambler and Glory exercise often or my house would be gone also. Nellie I can turn on and off. Great pictures.
next weekend momwithoutpaws will have to press the off button.. she does it by saying SETTLE Riley is coming woof
Fabulous photos!
