The Age of Mayhem
Tomorrow, Penny Mayhem turns 8. If there was ever an age that belonged to my girl, it is this one. The number whose symbol is infinity stood upon its head. Fitting, because in a race between Penny and our infinite cosmos, infinity is starting to sweat. Read More
That was so touching, my tears were running but it was a great tribute for a great dog and a great friend.
Your video made me cry. Also know–and share with James–that Dutch’s life has touched so many people in the world through your blog. We’re all appreciative that he shared Dutch with us, even in this very small way.
Beautiful.
Again, a beautiful tribute to Dutch, Will — and yet, it’s also a tribute to you and your brother who have taken these dogs into your hearts, where they will forever reside. This is just wonderful . . .
That was so sweet…
Thank you for sharing your joys and your sadness. Our amazing four legged family members bring so much to us in such a short amount of time, they are truley a blessing.
Beautiful tribute to a gorgeous dog…………………..

Love, love, love the video! Great way to celebrate his life!
He looks so sweet… and young… and playful… and happy… that is all that matters… I hope that brings comfort to your brother.
Did you notice that even when they get older, they never lose that childish look in their eyes?
Crying. Such a wonderful tribute.
Oh dear, that gave Mom teary eyes again. So very sad. He was a great family member and you guys will always have great memories but miss him terribly.
geez Will you’re hard on my eyes – haven’t cried so much since loosing my Jeddyboy 7 years ago. Absolutely beautiful tribute to Dutch and to James too. He sure was a happy pup and great to see just how well loved he was – and will always be as just because they may be gone from our sight they are never gone from our hearts. Huge hugs to you all and massive snuggles to Eko and Penny who will miss Dutch too.
A lovely and sweet tribute. Clearly a piece of Dutch will always occupy a part of your heart and judging by this remembrance, rightfully so. Sam sends puppy hugs your way. 🙂
Love and hugs to you and your family xxx
Beautiful!
What a great tribute. You made me cry again.
Of course this brought a tear to me eye – what a sweet old guy. I love the joy on his face in that shot at the end – at the beach…such a happy pup. So sorry for your loss.
I can sooo relate to this. one year ago (Dec. 10th) I lost my beloved Ridgeback, Rooi, to a spleen tumor. He was one of the most beautiful, well-behaved Ridgeback’s I have ever seen. The hole he left in my heart will always be there, but I’m comforted knowing that he had a wonderful life while on this earth and how much he was loved. When I think of him, I’m reminded of a great poem by Rudyard Kipling, “The Power of the Dog”.
What a great story he had! Hugs
I have been lucky enough to have had many dogs. All of them very different, and they were all very special to me. Each and every time I lost one of them it tore out my heart. Like you said, they take a piece of you with them when they go. But there is a part of them that stays with you for ever etched in heart and soul. That you can never loose. And I would like to think that they each helped me through life as no person could. They are like little four-legged angels. It is a very special gift that we had them there to share our life’s with. I just hope I gave them at least a fraction of the happiness and loved feeling that each gave me. I miss everyday and think of them often. If I am deserving enough to make it into Heaven, I expect to get run-over by a large group of dogs. Can not picture a Heaven with out them. Thank you all for sharing.
