Sunny Winter Memories

We had a mild December weather-wise but I recently read an article which confirmed a dreary suspicion. In the last half of the month, Chicago experienced only thirty total minutes of sunshine. Ouch. We’re back in the thick of the gray to start the year here, but luckily in NJ we had the opportunity to soak up plenty of rays. 5.1

It’s always such a joy to watch the pups in action with the sun on their backs

5.2

One day I hope I can get these two a yard of their own to romp in

5.3

It wasn’t quite a white Christmas, but the pups didn’t seem to mind

Penny recharging her solar batteries

5.5

No matter the species, there’s no feeling like the warm sun on your face

It may be a couple months before we see much of the sun again, so I’m glad we have a few sunny memories to hold onto while we hibernate this winter.

5.6

They may not be bears, but these two can certainly sleep, snore and konk out with the best of them

Batteries are charged and holiday travel is behind us, so we’re ready for whatever 2015 brings. Here’s hoping for at least one good snowstorm, I can’t wait to see Penny play in the snow for the first time.

  1. ha I guessed it… they are solar-powered…. that’s great to be independent from Mr. Burns and his nuclear power plant :o)

It’s really a downer without any sun.

We were disappointed not to have had any snow during the holidays, but supposedly there are 1-2 inches coming our way tomorrow. Fingers crossed! I knew Chicago was windy, but I didn’t realize how little sun you have in the winter. Love that last picture of the “doggy sprawl”!! 😀

Sending you some of our sunshine – recorded highs so far this summer last couple of days – in the 30s which is unusual for NZ. Your kids look happy no matter the weather or the colour of the sky but our boys are the same – a slither of sunshine and they’ll find it.

    Nice pictures 🙂

We had snow, but our female has paw pad injurie, so we are only going out for short walks on leash.

The last photo is absolutely adorable! Our pups have a yard, unfortunately there are also dog-smashing horses in that yard. They stay on leashes at all times, just for their safety and my peace of mind.

  7. How can that be comfortable?

  8. Emmadog says:

We have plenty of cold, but only a few inches of snow. We sure wish we could get hit with a large snowstorm! Can’t wait to see my pal racing together in the snow!

  9. Be careful what you wish for!! (Snowstorm wise that is!)

  10. Nikitaland says:

Nothing beats the rays of sunshine on your back, but here in Cleveland, OH, we have not seen many of those! Enjoy them while you can!

  11. Wasn’t that a aweful Dec with no sun! I need the sun! We did get 3-4 inches this weekend so the dogs played a bit but it was also way cold on Sunday and now we are in the deep freeze :(. I hope penny gets some snow to as I can’t wait to see the pictures.

  12. Mummy says she thinks whee might be solar powered too!

    xxxx

  13. Great photos – especially that last one……….HAHAHA………they really are all “arms and legs” when they’re asleep but what a great “pile of pups” they are!

    Hugs, Pam

  14. That last photo is so hilarious- would be perfect as a wallpaper.

  15. That last photo is a hilarious gem! Love seeing them drape themselves on/off the sofa. 🙂
