To kick off my 30th year on the planet, Mother Nature gifted me a vicious stomach virus. I spent a less than enjoyable day split between the bed and the couch. Luckily I had an in-house physician to look after me and a couple of diligent health aides happy to curl up and sleep the day away with me. Before I went down for the count, we drove to Montrose Dog Beach to make sure it survived the blizzard. 6.1

Well, we drove most of the way there. The access road hadn’t been plowed

We trekked through the snow to find all familiar signs of the beach nearly invisible.

6.2

Like me, the fence was under the weather (ba-dum-ching…give me a break, I’m sick)

The dog beach is now a surreal dog tundra for only the bravest.

6.3

There’s a beach there somewhere

6.4

Nearly 750,000 pups in the city, but for a short time the tundra belonged to just us

6.5

When new recruits showed up, Penny jumped for joy

Tired, cold and content, we headed home and I headed down the drain.

6.6

“Will, you don’t look so good.”

Thankfully I’m feeling better today (couldn’t feel worse) and I should be in full blogging shape by Monday. We’ll be back in action next week with blizzard videos and a very exciting announcement. But first, back to bed for me.

Have a good weekend!

Oh, no, Will. So sorry. But, as you said, you have the best in- house physician and her assistants. We knew something was going on when there was no blog yesterday. We were hoping, though, that you were still celebrating your birthday. Get well soon and have a good weekend.

Feel better fast. And listen to your physician! And get lots of cuddles from all of them.
(And I missed your blog yesterday, so don’t get sick again!)

  3. Didn’t click “like” cause stomach viruses are the WORST!!! Please feel better soon and we can’t wait for your announcement!

  4. KarenS says:

One should not get sick on a birthday. But if it does happen having a wonderful group to help you & snuggle with you is the best medicine! Glad you seem to be on the mend.

Drink plenty of fluids, keep warm (which shouldn’t be a problem since you have those cuddly RR’s) and rest. Looking forward to next weeks adventures. And btw, great pics of the blizzard.

  5. Elyse says:

Feel better will. You are a good doggy-daddy to take the gang to the beach when you feel so poorly!

  6. coastingnz says:

oh that sucks! Any consolation that was me except migraine Xmas day morning! Merry Xmas to me. You did well to head down to the beach although it sounds like it may have put you over the edge. Have to say Penny looked right happy to be there, Eko not so much in that photo above. Maybe he was already attuned to your welfare, something Penny is still to learn. Good to hear they are all looking after you at home. Rest up and get better real soon. I’m sure you’ll be getting lots of puppy love.

  7. I can’t believe there’s a beach under there!
We really missed you yesterday. Neeka and Khoi missed hearing about their very distant cousins (geographically and well as genetically) and my husband asked what your blog was about that day. Quite frankly we were worried. Glad you have Emily and her nurse practioners. Feel better.

Oh ugh, being sick is awful, but that’s the worst in my humble opinion. So sorry you went through it, but glad to hear you’re on the mend. Feel 100% really soon and can’t wait for your announcement!

  12. Marcela says:

I hope you feel better soon. I still cannot believe that you went out with all that snow. You are truly brave.

  15. harrispen says:

  17. Dottie and Tuffy-Cat says:

It really is great to have a furry friend around when you’re feeling down. While I recently suffered with bronchitis (a yearly malady for me), and I felt the need to sleep, Tuffy was right there to join me, so I wouldn’t feel so alone. I’m still down, but on the mend. Tuffy will see me through it, if I don’t kill myself tripping over him. WOW! He really does hang close by when his mommy is sick. That’s true devotion. Get well soon, Will, and please don’t pass it on to Emily.

  18. Oh dearie me……….sorry you’re sick but hopefully you’re on the mend – at least you have some cuddle partners to keep you warm! Sure looks like a LOT of snow up there!
