With Penny’s house arrest in full swing, my pup had plenty of restless energy. It mostly manifested itself in Penny bugging Eko non-stop. 23.1

The dog’s futon, normally used for naps more resembles a wrestling mat these days

Knowing Penny would come down with a case of cabin fever, I ordered a couple new toys to keep her occupied and keep Eko sane.

23.2

Friday afternoon the cavalry showed up. Along with a Valentine’s plush, I picked up an Omega treat ball and a Petsafe tug-a-jug

23.3

The new toys immediately caught Penny’s attention

23.4

Penny thankfully forgot about pestering Eko and instead invested her energy in testing out the new gear

23.5

The treat ball was a huge hit

23.6

And with Penny’s attention diverted, Eko got to enjoy some good chomping time of his own

23.7

I know Eko appreciated Penny chomping on someone else’s ear for once

Now, listen closely. Do you hear that? It’s the wonderful sound of nothing. The new toys have been a great outlet for Penny’s energy and the puzzle component of both helps tire her out even more.

23.8

When Penny finally does nap, Eko and I, like Elmer Fudd, try to be “vewy vewy quiet”

We’re hopefully in the homestretch of Penny’s sentence, but until off-leash privileges are reinstated, we’re getting by with a little help from our toy-friends.

Comments for The Cavalry has Arrived

  1. Emmadog says:

Penny makes the same face as Bailie, so cute, but I can see the trouble behind the eyes! Katie got that orange treat ball as a puppy in Germany and we still have it. To this day she absolutely loves it. When Bailie and I go to classes, Katie gets the ball with part of her food and some snacks and enjoys rolling it around the house. Great choice! It is also the ball we used at first with Bailie to slow down her eating.

  2. Great! the omega treat ball has probably magic power…. a tired energizer bunny … WOW!

  3. meANXIETYme says:

Impressive that only ONE ear is missing from that plush animal. 😉

Also, how does that orange treat ball work?

  4. raisingdaisy says:

Your plan worked like magic! I shudder to think how Penny will explode out of the gate when you first let her off-leash on the beach again!

  5. coastingnz says:

Fantastic faces there – love the look on Penny’s face with her new treat ball – priceless. Enjoy the little reprieve as somehow I don’t think it will last long lol

  6. T&S says:

That bottle-toy is it good enough to survive RR play? Have not seen it jet, what brand is it?

My RRs love to run around big table in our dinning room, so if you have enough space I think it could be good for your RRs to arrange something like that on these days.

Keeping our palms up for you to get trough this!

  7. Kismet says:

I know Penny’s frustration. I’ve been through a few mating seasons and haven’t found a man or laid an egg yet.

  8. cdog5 says:

The toys seem to have worked, Will! You have the most adorable dogs — they’re easily giving William Wegman’s fur kids a major run for the money!

  9. Thank God for the mail!!! And TOYS!!

  10. Workout for those busy legs AND Penny-girl’s mind. Outstanding! Way to go on the two pronged approach to saving Eko as well as yourself.

  11. Gambler and Glory love the tug o jug, great choice.

  12. I am overjoyed to see that everyone is still in one piece . . . well, everyone except the cute little Valentine’s plush puppy. Hang in there!

  13. harrispen says:

I love the picture of Penny with her head on the pillow. She looks so tired she can’t hold her head up.

  14. nothing like a tired woofie. I am not sure if this is the same Will and Eko who visit my blog. I hope so. Thank you for visiting me

  15. peeEss I have no idea how to follow you. I follow by email. And we are HUGE lovers of Rhodesian RBs!

  16. We have one of those tug-a-jug things too – one of Jack’s favorites.

  17. Cupcake says:

Gah! Eko! Protect your ears, buddy! Now you see what can happen if Penny gets her way! Maybe your dad can get you a hat or some headphones or earmuffs. I’d hate to see you end up like ValentinePlushy. RIP, plush ear…..

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  18. Off leash time periods are pretty tough! Miss Stella was on it for quite some time when she had knee surgery. Not being able to race and romp was getting on her nerves, but like you, we invested in some puzzle toys which helped … some. That first free roam without a leash … you could see the bliss on her face for miles and miles! Hang in there.

  19. amzntammy12 says:

Poor toy got its ear pulled off. hahaha. It’s nice to see the pups having fun indoors.

  20. Marcela says:

Lol. Penny certainly keeps you busy:-)
