[VIDEO] Canine Flu Season

As I’ve mentioned, Chicago’s in the middle of a Canine Influenza epidemic that’s affected over a thousand dogs. Luckily, Eko and Penny are not in that count and we’re working to keep it that way. Doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun though! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEUAp2Tq_xI

  1. brilliant idea to wear that squirrel house as a protective mask :o) I hope this canine flue is over soon and you can enjoy the beach and the park. how about some nose work while you have to stay at home? we do that too sometimes, sadly Easy finds no end and he finds even things I never hid for him :o(

I haven’t heard of cases here, but we’re keeping our pups out of contact with others for the time being.

Just means you have to get creative, Will! Enjoy your time at home with the pups! (And make lots of more videos for us!)

  4. Fun video, I just vaccinated my gang last night. Hope all is well down there and no more dogs get sick.

Never let it be said that a touch of fun can’t be added to almost any situation in the Eko/Penny household! 😉

Havent been around last days, just read your posts and googled a bit about influenza, thats the same as kennel cough?
Our dogs had kennel cough a year ago, and our vet said that things get more complicated when there are two or more dogs on the house, because they can get it again and again from each other.
Our male got sick, then the female got sick a week later when he got better (both were treated with antibiotics). I remember the fear when my vet told me if our male got it again from her, he is going to have to give him the most powerful human antibiotic on our market, and after that there are no more options for equal treatment.
But we had luck and they both got better.
We avoid places like dog parks from then.
Keep them safe. Thats one of bigger problems when you have two dogs in house.

I also suggest that you give them vitamines, tablespoon of honey each day and propolis (without alchohol-that version for children) to boost their immune system.

We’ve heard it is in Wisconsin now too, just hoping it doesn’t make it here. No fun.

  9. KarenS says:

Love that Penny! Such a crazy girl. And the very patient Eko, allowing his pesky sister to get her way. Such a wonderful boy. With all you have been doing to keep her tired and both entertained, you’ve got to be as anxious as they are to get back to the beach! Hope those days will return soon. And this outbreak will die out.

I think Penny looked like she was wearing a facemask against the flu! clever girl that one 🙂 stay safe guys hugs Fozziemum xxx
