These are the times that try dogs’ souls

“I’m worried about our pup,” I told Emily. “Penny’s totally fine and nearly healed from surgery,” She replied. I agree, but it’s not Penny I’m worried about. It’s Eko. His sanity in particular. We’re now over 10+ days post-surgery and Penny’s taking out all her excess energy by bugging her
“I’m worried about our pup,” I told Emily. “Penny’s totally fine and nearly healed from surgery,” She replied. I agree, but it’s not Penny I’m worried about. It’s Eko. His sanity in particular. We’re now over 10+ days post-surgery and Penny’s taking out all her excess energy by bugging her big bro. 18.1

Sure, there’s the usual dental exams, but Penny is absolutely relentless

18.2

Eko tries to keep Penny at bay

18.3

But in this little apartment, there’s only so much you can do to escape the wild beast

18.4

“Will, run! Save yourself!”

18.5

“Actually, forget that. Save me!”

18.6

Eko loves wrestling with Penny, but this is a case of way too much of a good thing

18.7

“Hey Will, I think I broke Eko. You know any other pups I could bother?”

Clearly Penny believes she’s 100% healed. But despite the havoc she’s wrought, we’re playing it conservatively and won’t let her off-leash until next week. Provided we all survive, that is. I’m just thankful I have Eko to help me out.

It’s going to be a long week!

Comments for These are the times that try dogs’ souls

  1. The good news is it’s what, T-minus 6 more days? 🙂

  2. Kismet says:

You need a third pup to tire Penny out.

  3. Easy said you can send her over … even when his staff needs a dogtor then :o)

  4. Jeff says:

    Love the will run picture.

  5. Next week? OMG!!!! Rut-roh………..

  6. Cupcake says:

Hang in there E. This is supposed to be the easy part…..

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  7. Emmadog says:

Long walks on a short leash, lots of mind games in the house!

  8. C Taylor says:

Hang in there all, this to will pass! Penny could try the patience of an angel (and especially the patience of Eko)

  9. DZ Dogs says:

Oh yes….we recently went through that with our foster boy named Jack. The vet said no running, jumping, hard playing for 10 days…right…a one year old husky mix no playing?!
We all about lost our minds there for a little while!
    🙂

  10. coastingnz says:

Eko bless you for looking after your little sister. Great photos Will – especially the “run, save yourself”. Not long now – hang in there, everyone!

  11. All I can say is hang in there. We’ve been there it’s tough. Can you try “Find it” games with her. That will occupy her mind and help wear her out some.

  12. I think you need another puppy to keep up with Penny then Eko can enjoy the comfort of his spot on the sofa, then you might need to get your sanity checked 😉

  13. Ogee says:

Have you taught them hide and seek? It’s a great game for indoors and mentally exhausts ours after just a few rounds.

  14. YOU think it’s going to be a long week…………imagine how poor Eko feels! HAHAHA
