Last Friday I said you can’t stop Penny, you can only hope to contain her. Well, we lost containment. Penny went supernova when I stepped out for dinner with my sister. When Emily came home, about fifteen minutes after I left, she found this: 21.1

Less than ideal redecorating

At dinner I showed the text to my sister who burst out laughing. One, because it wasn’t her couch. Two, because this was the sign behind me at dinner.

21.2

Luck? Karma? Coincidence? If it’s fate, it sure has a twisted sense of humor

Once back home I interrogated the suspect. So Penny, what do you have to say for yourself?

21.3

“Will, I just want to come clean and tell you the truth….”

21.4

“Eko did it.”

21.5

“What!? Tell him the truth you punk!”

21.6

“OKAYokayokay, I’ll tell him!”

21.7

“Jeez, I was just kidding, Eko.”

21.8

“Ok, Will. The truth is that a ghost did it.”

The real truth is Penny’s staples are out, her incision looks good and she is recovered from surgery. The vet’s given us permission to bring Penny up to speed so we’re heading out for a short run to stretch her legs in order to keep her from stretching my wallet.

The dog parks are going to be extra crowded this weekend, so I’m saving Penny’s big return until the beginning of next week. She’s going to need all the room she can get!

Comments for I Didn’t Like That Couch Anyway

  1. dashlilly says:

UGGGHHH !!! oh Penny, Penny, Penny…. have faith, Will. There was a woman on a television show once who needed help training her dogs — they filmed her interview on the frame of a former sofa. Her dogs had left nothing but the frame! Have fun shopping!! (or finding just the right shade of tape)

  2. Liking the post but not the cOUCH. I’m sure Penny’s cute factor will help to ease the pain of the new expense. Maybe sell off a couple of trinkets you got for wedding presents to subsidize a new couch?…

  3. Yes, that makes sense… I’ve heart about ghosts who enter your house, ruin the couch and disappear to the next furniture store where they get a treat for bringing new customers :o)

  4. Sarah says:

LOLOLOL! I feel your pain (sort of)…we haven’t had anything nice out for a couple of years because we keep adopting and we really have to wait until the pup hits age 2 before the bite-rip-put-everything-in-my-mouth phase is over…and our youngest is only 5 months….but my husband bravely laid down an antique heirloom rug that had belonged to my grandmother last week…..which promptly had one edge chewed off of it…..oh, honey, what WERE you thinking? (It’s okay — it was old anyway……)

  5. Kismet says:

I love the changes. Penny will send you a bill for her artwork.

  6. T&S says:

    Bad luck 😉

Find a tutorial on internet how to fix it, I recently watched tutorials how to fix leather, great stuff.

Our problem was with chairs. Our 3 years old male did it.

Does it stop when they get older and whats the trigger?

  7. T&S says:

… and I forgot about the time when they broke into garage and brought all kind of stuff including all of our shoes into our living room… an inch of living room floor wasnt visible… what a mess it was…

Just to make both of you and Emily to feel not so bad 🙂

  8. Victoria says:

Wow – she is good and quick – good thing you married a doctor! ha ha – hang in there she will outgrow it eventually!

  9. You might want to check with your accountant. Seeing as Penny proved fodder for your work, that couch may be a tax write off. Wouldn’t that be nice. We didn’t have such luck when Neeka destroyed ours. Duct tape saved her though. She still sleeps on it and isn’t bothered by the lumpy stuffing. We, on the other hand, are reminded daily of the destructiveness of ridgeback puppies. After our daughter’s wedding this fall, it’s new leather for us.

  10. Ohhhh Myyyy God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta give her her props…she sure didn’t mess around! The photo is priceless of you by that sign (sorry!)

  11. raisingdaisy says:

OMG!! Well I guess she had to leave her mark before her confinement was over…she must have realized that she was running out of time. 😉 That is SO weird about the blackboard drawing where you were eating! Maybe Penny phoned ahead and told them her plans and asked them to break it to you gently???

  12. Emmadog says:

Go Penny Go! You can drive to my place and let her race it out with Bailie in our yard this weekend if you like 😉

  13. Tough to look at that cute face and get mad about the couch-ripping party!

    Pam and Sam

  14. Connie Taylor says:

When I can stop laughing, I will feel sorry for the ouch, I mean Couch! Good thing Emily wasn’t any later coming or, or that ghost would have really created havoc on your place! Eko probably told him to leave before it got caught egging Penny on even more! You have made the start of this “Memorial” Day weekend unforgettable!!!!

  15. I”m surprised she didn’t try to blame it on Doc…

  16. coastingnz says:

I want to say priceless – but maybe we can make up a new expression – expensive lol. Great set of photos though and that look of butter won’t melt in the mouth, wasn’t me – expensive! lol

  17. Cupcake says:

OMGoodness, P. You are SO busted! You are out of prison just in time. Well…. ALMOST just in time. That being said – Sofa shopping! Yay!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  18. Fozziemum says:

Whoops…a million years ago an old tv show..think it was laugh in (i was a mere pup then myself) had a character who was always naughty ..they always said “the devil made me do it” all i could think of when i saw this..if it makes you feel better ..the cats here have shredded our couch …and i did wake up one morning to Forrest eating my lower partial dentures..that doggy smile…with my teeth…what can you do 🙂

  19. Ogee says:

Good thing you married Emily already. She might have left you and Penny over this one!

  20. Oh Penny…nice job on the redecorating!
    Wally & Sammy

  21. Oh dear Penny!!

    xxxx

  22. Eve says:

OH no Penny! I believe she was trying to tell you she was all better without visiting the vet! But loved the pictures! Especially the one from the restaurant! Good luck with her wearing her out this weekend! Also Happy Couch hunting!

  23. whoops, that is too much I can’t believe that chalkboard said that where you ate and Penny was eating your couch, if you didn’t have the picture to prove it I wouldn’t have believe you. Back to getting energy out.

  24. I feel your pain…I have a love seat that added fiber to our pup’s diet. She destroyed it in 5 minutes.
