Eko and Penny have found a happy balance

There is one notable exception. At least a few times a week Penny makes it her mission to bother Eko when he clearly doesn’t want to play. I think she gets a kick out of riling him up.

Eko first tries to ignore the little brat

But when he sees I’m not going to save him, Eko takes matters into his own jaws

And the gladiator battle begins!

The two play the age-old game, “Whose got the biggest mouth.” And guess what?

Eko always wins

Once Eko’s got ahold of Penny, he doesn’t apply any pressure, he just sits down and doesn’t move. It’s the dog equivalent of holding your hand against a little kid’s head while they’re futilely throwing punches that can’t reach.

Not surprisingly, it’s also at this point Penny decides she doesn’t want to play anymore. She shakes free of her big bro then looks at me like, “Can you believe he did that!?”

Yes, Penny. Yes, I can. And I ask her the same question my parents asked me when I would instigate a fight with my big brother – “What did you think would happen?”

Does your pet have any repeat-behaviors that make you ask the same question? I have no doubt there are some good ones out there.

Comments for “What did you think would happen?”

  1. hahaha some things never change… specially between sisters and big brothers :o)

  2. fredrieka says:

I like games and especially when Riley plays

  3. KarenS says:

The prime spot is always taken by my older guy. If Ty is able to snag before Bruno, it’s a coup. Bruno sits in front of us & whines the most pathetic whine he can. This prompts Ty to get up & voice his opinion, vacating the spot.

Game over. Bruno prevails. Same game for almost 9 years. Same result.

  4. The other day, I finally got the guts to chase Jamison and he turned around and swatted me. I ran with my tail between my legs and begged Mom to hold me. She told me that it was my fault but that I did good attempting to stand my ground.

  5. Kismet says:

Eko can take care of himself. It’s better that he’s the one who disciplines Penny.

  6. great action shots, love penny’s eyes popping out of her head. Eko’s mouth is so big.

  7. Haha hilarious. Sometimes little sisters just need to learn.

  8. T&D says:

Same here. Love the photos 🙂

RR ladies are more active than males. If it was up to our RR lady, she and our male would be playing all day 😉 and our male loves to sleep a lot 🙂

  9. DZ Dogs says:

    So funny!!
Ziva likes to climb all over Dante and clean his face. He has given up fighting the issue. 🙂

  10. Well I’m an “only cat” guy so I don’t have anyone to train, fight off, play with or BITE – other than my Mom….and she’s a fairly good substitute for a kitty cat. Kinda.

    Hugs, Sammy

  11. Connie Taylor says:

I love your answer to Penny’s look of help from you. Two legged or four legged sibling rivalry, parents’s answer’s to the kid who started it and are looking for sympathy are always true!

  12. Emmadog says:

That is so cute and funny!

  13. Sometimes (every single day), Mom says, “What did you think would happen?” when I try to chase a squirrel and get stopped at the end of my leash. Usually it makes me cough. What did I think would happen?

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  14. ours is reversed…it’s the cat who turns on the dog!! lol. Dakota will instigate with Cody, Cody is super patient…but when he has had enough he is DONE…he will start chasing Dakota (who is more than double Cody’s size) and Dakota runs off like a baby lol

  15. E Edwards says:

This same thing happens around here, but it is the older one bothering his younger brother! One is always ready to play while the other just has to be in the right mood!

  16. Marcela says:

Lol. They are so funny and for those that don’t have dogs, the way they are playing is how dogs play. It does look like two ferocious dogs, but in reality is nothing more than playing.

  17. We have that here too, but in reverse! Hendon’s always trying to gee Popper up for another game, often when she’s just cuddled up for a bit of shut-eye. Sometimes it works, but sometimes she just firmly puts him in his place. Queue Hendon’s wide eyes and “But muuuum, she told me off!” looks in our direction. So he gets the same response from us “Well, you did ask for it!”

  18. Like you said, “Some lessons you have to learn the hard way” -and sometimes some dogs (who shall remain nameless) never learn any way. BOL Great photos of the ‘ferocious’ duo. 🙂
