Eko scouts the shallows for targets
Then free dives for his prize
Literally bobbing for apples
This summer Eko’s back at his trade, stirring up the sand in search of buried treasure
Unlike last year, Penny’s interested in Eko’s mining operation. But in these pirate waters, you keep what you find so Eko’s not keen to share his haul of sticks
Penny’s not so easily dissuaded and has taken to following Eko on his deepwater expeditions
She’s proven herself an adept diver
Penny’s big haul was a new first for the Salvage Squad
A shovel! The team now has its own equipment for their next expedition
Yes, all the debris at the beach is a nuisance, but the annoyance is dampened by the joy the pups get from hauling the junk to shore. It’s also a great opportunity to practice the most important command (“leave it!”) and do our part to clean up the beach a bit.
OMD you are a smart girl! You found a shovel… now you can dig for treasures without getting dirty paws! Pawsome! How about a snorkel set for the pups?
I am sure the beach crew love having Eko and Penny there helping with clean-up! Love the proud and jubilant look on Penny’s face!
Remind us: how on earth did you train Ridgebacks (not known for water skills) to stick their heads UNDER water and poke around?
anything that we can fit in our mouths, momwithoutpaws says we are like toddlers she has to watch what I am nibbling on if it is near the pond it would probably be frog legs
Penny and Eko have more exciting lives than I do!!!
Thank goodness you guys are there! It looks like you’re doing a thorough job of cleaning the litter. The shovel is awesome. That’s a keeper!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Amazing photo series! I love that they’re pitching in to clean up the mess- good dogs! 😀
It’s a public service. Those non-biodegradable shovels would have been there for eons.
I’m sure Penny has heard about all the old shipwrecks in the lake from Eko, and with her new shovel she just might find the next big treasure! Even bigger than when the Titanic was rediscovered. Then you will all be on the “National Geographic Channel” discussing how Penny found her treasures!!!!
I love how your pups ‘dive’ for treasure. Sam wouldn’t go near the water, let alone get his head or paws wet even if it meant a 5 lb. brick of cheese. He’ll be supervising from the shoreline deck chairs. Water/diving, yeah – never gonna happen with my guy. 😉
That’s just one of the things I love about your kids, they find fun in everything they do.
I believe this is a powerful argument for more dogs at more beaches!
Such environmentally conscious pups! I guess you have to help the team dragging the treasures to the nearest trash bin.
Looks like they were having loads of fun!
So thankful your pups are on cleanup detail there!! Love the face on Penny with shovel find! Made my day!!! LOL
Oh boy! Looks like a lot of fun……….and that purple shovel – WHAT A FIND! Yay for Penny the Salvage Queen!
Hugs, Sammy
Great photos, Will. I love the one where Penny’s is “partially” under-water, but that tell-tell ear is plain to see, They both seem quite comfortable to be water-dogs. Possibly some Lab blood in the family? lol
Dottie&Tuffy-Cat
I love how they just stick their heads right into the water! It would be a great thing to see from below…
they are great treasure hunters and cleaner uper’s
