Street festival season is in full swing here in Chicago. The block-party style festivals pop up all over the city and always combine good eats with live music and a fun atmosphere. Best of all, the neighborhood festivals are all pup friendly! This weekend we visited the Pilsen section of the city for the Food Truck Festival. There were barbeque trucks, taco trucks and burger trucks. But one truck in particular caught our eye. 10.1

A food truck just for pups! The truck set the pups’ tails wagging full speed

10.2

Eko could barely stand the anticipation as we waited in line

10.3

“Hello, I would like all of your treats.”

10.4

“Yes, you heard me correctly.”

10.5

“Miss, I believe your coworker thinks I’m speaking metaphorically. I’d like to make myself perfectly clear. I would like to purchase this entire truck.”

10.6

“Money? No money, but I will give you lots of kisses!”

10.7

“And yes, I promise to share with this punk, too.”

I negotiated Eko down from the entire truck to just one treat each. Frosty Paws is the pups’ favorite summertime treat, so I ordered a frozen yogurt snack to help the gang keep cool.

10.8

Dessert is served!

10.9

He didn’t get every treat in the truck, but Eko sure got a good one

10.91

Manners? Who needs manners?

10.92

Thanks to the gang at Fido To Go for helping us have a great time

After chowing down on their delicious treats, Eko and Penny lay down to soak up some rays and soak up plenty of affection from festival goers. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon!

I’m looking forward to the rest of festival season and you can be sure the pups are too.

Comments for Treat Festival Season

  1. Victoria says:

never seen a pup food truck – you big city folks have it made! Love Eko’s anticipation and method of payment – puppy kisses should always be an acceptable method of payment

  2. pawsome choise Eko… to take all is the best! What a cool idea, literally… and I hope the ice cream cup is still in one piece :o)

  3. I absolutely LOVE street festivals and that is one of the MAIN things I miss about living in Cleveland. There were TONS of them all summer long! In the suburbs of Detroit? Not so much and that is a real shame. There are some, but nowhere near the number there were in Cleveland. I have never seen a pup food truck but will be on the prowl to see if I can find one! Brilliant idea!!

  4. Marcela says:

Lol. So cool. Your furry kids certainly enjoyed their outing.

  5. KarenS says:

Bruno & Ty want to know if the truck can come out west? They get treats from a wonderful bakery. But a food truck for pets is awesome.

  6. That’s one thing I miss about living in NYC are the summer street fairs…they were always so much fun. But a food truck just for dogs…wow what a cool idea.

  7. Great photo captions! I love Eko’s insistence that he wants the whole truck.

  8. Fido to Go is the best food truck ever! Mom takes me to craft shows all the time, but no doggie trucks ever show up. I wish I had Eko’s suave manners. Maybe I could get a hot dog or something…..

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  9. coastingnz says:

oh my gosh I’ve never heard of a food truck – that is so awesome and who can blame Eko for wanting Everything! – he is just a kid after all 🙂

  10. Emmadog says:

How fun is that! Wish we had one of those trucks around here!

  11. Wendy says:

That is such a cool food truck. I love Eko’s reaction!

Curdie had the opposite experience at the markets on Sunday. We went looking for pigs’ ears but the dog treat stall wasn’t there. Curdie got plenty of pats and admiration, and met some friendly dogs so it was still a good day. On the treat front all was not lost as there was a half marrow bone waiting at home.

Markets are more fun with a dog. You must attract a lot of attention with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks!

  12. Wendy says:

While I remember, easiest home made frozen dog treat… chicken necks in a block of ice. Curdie practically inhales fresh chicken necks but in an ice block they provide hours of summer fun.

  13. Dottie&Tuffy-Cat says:

What a fantastic idea! The truck was there just for the four-legged side of the Kearney Clan. Did you go right home and make chicken necks in an ice block? Those are to be eaten outside only, I’ll bet. Check it out with your bride. I think she’ll be the first to agree.
You have it made, Will. Count all your blessings. You have many.
    Dottie and Tuffy-Cat

  14. Abbie says:

Oh mu gosh, I didn’t know there was such a think as a puppy food truck! We were just recently acquainted with human food trucks, and love them! Such a good idea!

  15. Kismet says:

A Ptomaine Wagon for the canines!

  16. Oh my gosh! What a totally cool idea. Sam & I have a part-time treat bakery but this is way cooler! And Denver absolutely needs to add a Fido truck to the food truck brigade. Maybe Eko would invest? We’d promise him life time treats. [wink]

  17. Wow, lucky dogs! I just love Eko’s ordering dialog!

  18. I’ve never seen one of those trucks, how cool. Up here after training I’ve been taking Gambler to the ice cream shop and getting him a dish of ice cream.

  19. Wow! What fun! We live in Portland, the food cart capital- and even we don’t have a food cart for dogs yet- very cool indeed!

  20. Oh what fun I love this 🙂
