These days the quarters are even more cramped
But the term “dogged” exists for a reason. Once a dog sets their mind to something, they’ll go to great lengths to make it happen. And when Eko and Penny both decide to nap on the futon there is no changing their minds.
In this situation, “great lengths” usually means one or more of the pups hanging a great length off the futon
Sometimes it’s Eko’s head
Sometimes it’s Penny’s legs
And in one extreme example, I walked in and found Penny napping like this
It doesn’t always look pretty, but one way or another they make it work
The pups recently discovered this side-by-side formation as a way to help them better share space
Two’s company and three may be a crowd, but the pups are always happy to find a way to make room for one more.
Is it the easiest way to take a nap? Of course not, if it were easy than they wouldn’t be dogs!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said, “There’s no way Penny could…” or “It would be impossible for Eko to…” only to be proven completely wrong.
Anyone else ever underestimate the willpower of their pet?
I bought such a growth chart for kids for some cents, it worked well, sadly as I marked the 62 cm, Easy shredded the poor giraffe-thingy :o) They know no Mission Impossible, anything goes :o)
You just made by birthday so much happier and funnier when I saw Penny “napping” while standing up!!!
I love your posts every day! I currently ‘share’ my parents dogs, but can’t wait to have a pup to call my own. I’m not sure if reading your posts is a good thing or a bad thing in that respect :p. Just kidding, but keep it up!
Mom has a series of photos of me in the cat basket which is fun to see. If you live together you don’t realize how we change in size. https://youtu.be/fe7cf32GfmI Love to see how all of you use the futon to fit on.
Lol. Omg Will, leave it up to your furry kids to come up with new ways of fitting in a futon.
Bet you didn’t have the slightest idea when you picked out Penny that she’d turn out to be such a hoot!! She’s very resourceful I’ll give you that!
Some really serious funny sleeping poses. Of course they like the futon vs their nice expensive beds?
I have a male that likes to sleep with his head and front paws on the chair/sofa and his feet on the floor! I have often thought that Penny reminds me of Ty in so many ways. The crazy pup. The one you can’t help but love dispite their antics. I swear, if he wasn’t a singleton & 7 years older than she, that they were twins separated at birth.
Penny sleeping standing up! It’s too much! Mom usually tells me I can’t fit into the 3 inches of space next to her on the chair. But yes I can!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Brilliant – but yes always room for humans in amongst the mayhem. We have those issues on our bed – yes I know, naughty but they love their bed snuggles, especially in the morning. It is a race after being fed as to who gets best spot on the bed. Much better if only one of us still in it – bit more room but they seem to migrate to whomever is left in the bed and the “spreading” begins lol
Examples of will power in dogs you say?
1. My first time ploughing, Sasha (Sheltie x) and Jedda (Fox Terrier) spent a day and a half following the tractor around a hundred acre paddock. Eventually they realised I always stopped in the same place and they’d wait for me in the shade of a tree.
2. While chopping up a roast chicken I had to go and answer a phone call (landline ☎️ – it was a different millennium, what can I say). When I returned I found Kim (Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier x – pretty much as small as a dog gets without being a Chihuahua) on the table scoffing my roast chicken! She had accomplished this feat in a two stage chair to table manoeuvre. Forget Red Bull, roast chicken gave her wings! Never under estimate the toy dogs…
Napping is a personal matter and shouldn’t be photographed and distributed to the world.
Haha, yeah, all the time – mostly with Tino as he was our daredevil.
I think your pups give new meaning to the term “dog pile.” 🙂
