Penny Mayhem

Of all Penny’s multitudinous nicknames, my favorite is undoubtedly “Mayhem.” She picked it up when I happened to see one of those ubiquitous insurance commercials warning about protecting yourself from mayhem. Except in our case there’s no such thing as “Penny Insurance.” And while some mayhem is bad luck,
Of all Penny’s multitudinous nicknames, my favorite is undoubtedly “Mayhem.” She picked it up when I happened to see one of those ubiquitous insurance commercials warning about protecting yourself from mayhem. And while some mayhem is bad luck, there’s no avoiding Penny Mayhem when she wants to start trouble

Like all true mayhem, Penny Mayhem is reckless

Penny doesn’t start battles with Eko to win them, she just does it to stir things up a bit

In fact, I’m pretty sure she enjoys getting beat up as much as she joys dishing it out. The girl is nuts!

I mean, have you ever seen a dog so happy to have her head in a vice grip?

As Eko and I have learned, you can’t stop mayhem. You can only hope to contain her. That’s why Eko holds Penny like this until she decides to cool out for a bit

As for Eko, my favorite nickname for him is “Mr. Baby” on account of his old-man wrinkles combined with his big-baby personality. These days, “Mr. Patient” might be more apt.

It’s not easy, but if you had to pick just one nickname for your pet, which one would it be?

Comments for Penny Mayhem

  1. Emmadog says:

I get called shaggy a lot since my furs are always shaggy looking. Bailie is the one stirring up trouble at our house and the more we hear about Penny, the more we find her similar to Bailie. They are trouble, but amusing as well.

  2. I would love to see our Aussie Shepherd, Roxy, meet up with Penny. I’m sure we’d both be laughing until we cried. If I had to give one nickname, it might be Sneaky. Or it could be Decorator since she likes to redecorate my house by changing the furnishings…thus the first choice, Sneaky.

  3. I’ve got a bunch for Kali but the one I tend to use the most is “Hey da Kal”…. not sure where it even came from….

  4. girls… they always ready for mayhem no matter if they walk on four or two legs :o) I like the nicknames… I wish my mom would find a better one for me… she calls me The Mole… :o(

  5. KarenS says:

Bruno is “grumpy dog” and Ty is our “little one”, but they aren’t. Bruno is 10+, but the name has been around for years. He is a typical male RR with a sweet temperament. Ty is tall, but the name as stuck since he was a puppy, as he still has that goofy happiness even as he approaches 9.

  6. Kismet says:

When I first saw the title of this post, I thought that Penny wrote an autobiography.

  7. Oh Penny, you do entertain us! Sam is such a doofus but an even more apt nickname is probably “Sunshine” that that dog is just full of light. Makes me smile brightly every. single. day. 🙂

  8. For Cody, it was alway Snoopy or Snoop Dog. He didn’t take after the rapper, but the Peanuts character. Cody was always Mr. Personality.

  9. Joan says:

Sadie has many titles. Our favorite is Sadie Bird because she floats on the steps in the pool and shakes in the water like a bird in a birdbath.

  10. KC is KC Casem & Jack Stack is JOJO
KC is just a really good looking charming guy- draws anyone in. I got him around the time they said KC Casem died, although it was wrong I guess. JoJo is from working with people who wanted it to be KC and JoJo (band). He’s sweet, easygoing, and likes to stir up fun.

  11. Gail Simburger says:

Hard to pick just one for Leo. Probably to most fitting is Hoover! He is always looking for food, will eat anything, and gets into anything that smells like food. You’d think we starve the poor guy to death!

  12. coastingnz says:

The most common for our boys are big fella and little fella. Nico is big for a Dalmatian as he is the first of a new blood line so back to the size they should be, then along came Ziggy our GSP and while he isn’t little at all, he is compared to his big brother hence “little fella”. Try to pick him up though and we’re all like “whoa nothing little about you”. Latest for Nico though is “Marble-less” or Mr Marble-less – swear he is loosing his marbles sometimes…… Poor Ziggy is also Rat on occasion – short for rat-bag. The list could go on and on – we’ve nicknamed them on occasion after rubgy stars depending on their mood, food (marshmellow and chocolate muffin) and many versions of their actual names, Zigster, Zigs, Nics, Nico-son, Nicy etc, etc. We love them no matter what. On another note to my boys, doesn’t one of your followers actually have a dog named “Mayhem”?

  13. I used to pick fights with Khia ALL the time and I loved being beat up by her. My favorite was when she would pin me by my neck on the floor and then give me flea bites all over. Those were the days…

  14. Eve says:

Juley the hound here is called the Pampered Purple Princess. As my oldest boy would say: 1) Very spoiled; 2 came with a purple color & leash when we got her; of course 3) is the only princess in this house. And of course he is right!!

  15. C Taylor says:

Our Bentley (9 month old girl) is always perusing her older 9 year Lab brother, Riley. He’s like Eko, very patient to a point, then he knocks her down a bit. He’d be lost without her now. She will check on him throughout the day to see how he’s doing and if he’s ready to play, again

  16. one nickname? “Bob Barker” 😉

  17. Cupcake says:

Oh, Penny! You’re such a wild child! Mom’s favorite nickname for me is Stubborn. I don’t know why….

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  18. raisingdaisy says:

Penny is a glutton for punishment! She’s willing to provoke Eko to the point where he has to restrain her, and next time she jumps right back in again. Dat dog got spunk! 😉

  19. Lizard Jones says:

My hubby came up with the name “mangy cat” for out lil bit.

  20. Geri Zeibert says:

Miss Golden Princess, when I am in a good mood. Shit-eater, when I furious with her. lol

  21. love the black and white photos and mayhem!
