Meet Atlas!

I’ve always said the best part about adventure is sharing it. I get to share adventures with Eko, Penny, Emily and our friends/family, and then I get to share them here on the blog. But every once in a while we’re lucky enough to bring those two worlds together. Last
I’ve always said the best part about adventure is sharing it. I get to share adventures with Eko, Penny, Emily and our friends/family, and then I get to share them here on the blog. But every once in a while we’re lucky enough to bring those two worlds together. Last week I heard from Jessica and Scott, two people we’ve shared our blog adventures with. As fate would have it they were in town with their pup Atlas and asked if we were up for a romp at the beach. Our answer? Of course!Rhodesian Ridgeback, puppy, chicago, montrose dog beach

Atlas is a sweet five-month-old Ridgeback with such a great disposition. He’s also already about the same size as Penny!

Penny made sure to give Atlas a warm welcome

Jessica, Scott and Atlas got to witness “Penny Mayhem” in person. “She’s always been like that…right?” Scott asked with trepidation.

I laughed and assured Scott that Atlas wouldn’t turn into Penny. She’s one of a kind.

Being a puppy is a ruff job so Atlas took a break under a bench

“Alright guys, I’m coming out!”

Atlas joined up with my treasure hunters and the gang explored the shore for booty

Atlas had never been at such a big park before, but he quickly warmed up and happily chased Scott along the water

Atlas was in full awkward-puppy-run mode which meant I was in full “awww” mode. I’ll never stop loving watching gangly pups galloping

We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon hour together. As puppies tend to do, Atlas made very clear when the trip was over.

He flopped in the ground and gave us the “I’m not moving unless it’s toward the exit” face

It was so great to meet Jessica, Scott and Atlas. We got to trade stories, hang out and enjoy some sun with our pups. So thanks to Jessica and Scott for dropping me a line!

We always love to meet new people and new pups so please consider this post an open invitation to come hang out with us at Montrose Dog Beach if you’re ever passing through Chicago. Year round, rain or shine, we’ll be there.

Hope to see some of you there! You can’t miss us. Well certainly not Penny at least.

Comments for Meet Atlas!

  1. Doonzer says:

The ‘hunting for booty’ pic is intriguing, as all 3 Ridgebacks are leading with their right paw. Is this coincidence? Anecdotal evidence of ‘right-pawedness?’ (Which applies to canines). Wonderful story.

  2. Oh what a blast!!! How lucky they were to meet your pack!!! Did they get a Ridgeback as a result of following you? I love the name Atlas, and that is just sooooo cool that you all got to hang out!

  3. that’s so great that you met Atlas and his humans in the furs :o) and it’s great to see 3 ridgebacks together, they look great as a pack :o)

  4. fredrieka says:

that sounds like a lot of fun and sand we have the sand and sometimes the same amount of fun woof

  5. What fun! I always like to meet up with other Ridgeback people. It’s fun comparing notes and watching the dogs’ unique method of play. It scares most dog people to see all the teeth, leg grabbing and snarling. I’ve told so many that Khoi has a big mouth, but it’s very gentle. Ask the neighbor’s ducks! I would so love to get Penny and Khoi together. They are very much alike.

  6. KarenS says:

What a wonderful day the pups had. Eko & Penny got to break in a new recruit to the joy of playing RR style. And the look of exhaustion on Atlas’s face just says it all.

New pups. New people always make a day a joy!

  7. What a great fun day. So nice to meet up with others of the same kind. Great pictures.

  8. Kismet says:

Um, you’re not catching us there in the winter.

  9. raisingdaisy says:

The Ridgeback Gang! What a beautiful sight seeing the three of them exploring the beach. 😀 It’s amazing how each has a completely different look and it’s so easy to recognize who’s who. 😀

  10. dashlilly says:

Triple Double R gang! What is it with Penny and her WIDE open mouth!!!????

  11. Stef says:

I love your blog and truly look forward to it each day! Thank you!

  12. We’ll take you up on the open invitation and look for the *fur flash* if we ever travel eastward! Sam will be way far away from the shoreline so as not to get wet in the slightest. That silly dog!

  13. Ogee says:

Cyber world…meet real world Penny! Oh what fun when worlds collide. 🙂

  14. Genevieve says:

OMG! The treasure hunting picture is perfect! They are a trio of trouble.

  15. Emmadog says:

How fun! They look like the three stooges!

  16. coastingnz says:

That is so cool meeting blog followers – and pup! Atlas is adorable and love the “end of play” photos – puppy bliss. I’m sure Scott and Jessica enjoyed it just as much and they would have a very content puppy at the end of the day. Speaking of content, my lovable lumps are snuggled on the bed with me – too cold first thing this morning to get up yet, not when they have Mummy to snuggle with…… one word SPOILT!

  17. harrispen says:

That sure looked like a fun time.

  18. Such beautiful, happy, loved doggies. There’s just no words to describe good that is.

  19. […] (both human and dog) behind the screen names and accounts we know so well. Last summer we got to meet Atlas (the handsome puppy above), Jess and Scott. Not surprisingly, Penny immediately crashed into Atlas […]
