Nothing is given to a younger sibling. For seven years I was the youngest of three siblings and I scrapped for everything. One of the major resources I had to jostle for was space. Whether on a couch or in a car, I had to find a way to squeeze myself a spot where my brother and sister insisted there was no room. Rhodesian Ridgeback, puppy, sun, cute, chicago

Penny has mastered the art of the younger-sibling squeeze

Squirming her way into a spot on the couch or the futon is one thing, but Penny recently demonstrated no spot is too small for her to shimmy her way into.

This one foot by two foot sunspot barely fit Eko, but Penny remained undeterred

First she nudged Eko over

Then comfortably settled in to bask in a few glorious inches of sun

Eko knew his options were to either start a fight or just let the nosy little punk share with him

And like an experienced older sibling, Eko opted to share. Not without a few grumbles of course

There’s no room? Regardless of species, there’s no such thing when you’re a younger sibling!

Comments for Squeeze Every Last Penny

  1. I wonder that dogs are such gentlemen… our Frosty did that too for Chipy and she even grabbed his bone… as always… we can learn a lot from dogs, right?

  2. Kismet says:

Penny keeps pushing her luck. Something might snap.

  3. Karen says:

  4. Emmadog says:

My mom always finds it amusing when we are out on walks and we just “rudely” push each other out of the way with our bodies and it doesn’t seem to phase us. She always expects the pushed dog to get mad, but it never happens. We do have fights with cat bro Bert, however, as he refuses to give in to dogs.

  5. That Eko is one wise pup, choosing his battles with care. No point poking the dragon unnecessarily, right? 🙂

  6. raisingdaisy says:

I love that first pic of Penny’s squished nose! I think it’s sweet that your dogs share even the smallest of coveted spaces. 🙂

  7. Cupcake says:

Sun squares are valuable real estate. Good cooperation getting both of you in there. If you keep edging over, it’ll be all yours, P!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  8. coastingnz says:

tee hee – that is so my boys. Only Exception Ziggy basically just throws myself down into the smallest space so Nico often has no choice but to move, otherwise yes it is just a matter of patience and letting the little monster squeeze himself in.

  9. That look on Eko’s face speaks volumes! Little sisters can be pesky. 😉

  10. I refuse to ever do this with Macy. Mark my words! <3, Noodle

  11. Geri Zeibert says:

Please Will, don’t ever stop sharing your photos and blog. No matter how bad my day, you Echo and Penny give me a lift every time! How is you brother and Doc?

  12. I just discovered this blog (suggested by BlogLovin) and I LOVE it already. We have a dog, Zoey, who does this but I’m the target. She’ll jump up and manages to squeeze everyone away from me and settles down into my lap or on my side. I would make her wait her turn, but she gives me that look and a kiss and my heart melts. She’s spoiled in all the right ways.

  13. Those are some really great sun photos.
