No More Moving Blues

We moved our apartment ourselves so it was a tough week for everyone. First we tossed some of Penny’s custom-torn furniture. This meant the little punk lost her favorite place to put her behind while laying in our laps. She still made a valiant effort though

Things got even more desolate once my brother and I moved out all the furniture

It was a restless first night at the new place. We were disheveled and the pups were understandably out of sorts. Over the weekend we thankfully had some time to settle in.

The couch is now in my office and it’s helped the pups feel right at home

Same goes for the familiar sight of their toy bin

As Eko and Penny became more relaxed they started to really explore their new environment.

They were delighted to see we have an island which they can circle like sharks

And Eko’s already begging to get a fire going

Any trepidation the pups had vanished when they got a look at the bay windows in the front of the apartment.

The semi-circle lets in all the sun a dog could dream of. Now if only there was a comfy place to lay…

Warm. Comfortable. Right at home.

“Ok, Will. We can stay.”

I’m still beat from the move and there’s plenty more to do, but knowing our new place has the Eko and Penny seal of approval certainly makes the load feel lighter!

Metaphorically, at least. Unfortunately all the furniture we need to get will still feel the same weight coming up the stairs…

love the pic of a happy, relaxed Eko and of them circling the island – so glad you are home!

  2. Even being somewhat empty it is still “full”…because it is FULL of LOVE!
I am dying for that kitchen and the bay window already!

  3. Sunshine on their beds! Yes! You did it Will! You got the perfect place!

What beautiful windows!!! You did a good job in choosing your new spot. Congratulations. Moving is awful, no matter what. Awful, awful, awful. Then it is over and become a memory!

  7. Ellen Quilty says:

It’s so nice to be a dog who doesn’t have to worry about a thing! As long as they have a nice comfy bed, plenty of food and their beloved humans they are all set.At least you don’t have to worry about them-just the furniture. That will come.Congratulations on your new home!

  8. Jennifer says:

Will what kind of beds do you have for Eko and Penny? They look extremely comfortable and I know my Golden Zoey would love one of those to sleep on as well.

  9. Connie Taylor says:

Maybe you can light the fireplace for Eko this week, cool weather is on its way for a few days. (60 for a low here in Alabama tonight!). Has Penny been around a warm fireplace to know the great ambiance that comes from them?

  10. Looks like a very lovely place.

  11. Emmadog says:

We only see one problem…the fireplace. It appears to be wood burning? You really should get a gas insert with remote so the pups can turn it on and off when they feel so inclined. I mean, not for their benefit, but so you don’t have to get the fire going for them!

  12. It looks gorgeous! Very dog friendly on the inside as well as the outside. Dog beach, sun spots, island, fireplace, and family. Perfection.

  13. coastingnz says:

Your new home looks beautiful and I’m sure you’ll all have many many memories unfold there. Exciting times.

  14. Abbie says:

Lol, I loved this, “They were delighted to see we have an island which they can circle like sharks” So true! If they need lessons, I think our dogs could help out! 😉 😛 I can’t wait to see more of your new apartment; it looks gorgeous! Especially the kitchen – jealous!

  15. Wendy says:

What a beautiful apartment. You and Emily have great taste. Of course, being a fan of wooden floors, fireplaces and bay windows I am rather biased. I love that Eko and Penny get the prime solar real estate of that gorgeous bay window. Good luck with the furniture hunting and hanging all those pictures!

  16. Fozziemum says:

So glad the move went well and the pups settled in quickly…ah yes the circling sharks hahaaha 🙂

  17. Oh what GRAND sun puddles you have in those front windows – I see COMFY furniture there in your immediate future (and the pups’ immediate future as well!). New place looks homey and happy and just grand…………

  18. fredrieka says:

change is hard, moving, or losing a friend, each pawbaby works through it with all sorts of hugs, glad you have leaped over the blues

  19. Marcela says:

I like your new place Will:-) Moving is always stressful and I can’t believe you and Emily did it by yourself, but honestly it is the best thing to do. I paid a moving company $4,000 to move my household goods from Maryland to Massachusetts and it was a total nightmare. Next time I will do it myself. Not worth the money, but most of all not worth all the aggravation I had to go through. Enjoy your new place:-)

  20. Building a new home takes time, being there now starts the process. Congrats on the new crib. Settle in and start those pawsome memories in the sunlight. 🙂

  21. Glad you are settling in. Looks like the new windows are a big hit 🙂
