A Bright Future

I’ve mentioned it a couple times, but one of the things Emily and I loved about our apartment when we first saw it was the front sunroom. We dreamed of lounging while basking in bright rays, reading cozily on weekend mornings. We’re still dreaming. The pups on the other hand… well, they’re living the dream!Rhodesian Ridgeback, puppy, cute, chicago, adventure

It started innocently enough. I tossed out a single dog bed for the pups to lounge on

Of course, jealousy quickly set in

So I was forced to bring out both beds each morning

Then move the beds when the sun moved and the pups whined

Then do it again…

And again…

And again.

When I had the indignity to forget to move their beds at sunset, Penny took matters into her own paws

But I quickly rectified my mistake to ensure the pups got their requisite twelve hours of comfortable sunbathing

Hard at work

It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to enjoy the sunroom. And clearly it’s not Emily and me! Yet. But based on Eko and Penny’s testing, it appears we will thoroughly enjoy the experience. Some day…

Comments for A Bright Future

  1. This is brilliant. My dog also follows the sun but around different rooms!

  2. Neeta says:

THAT IS hilarious… I was told I am probably the only pet parent who does these kinds of things….mentally keep a reminder alert to tend to my pet’s needs above mine ALL day long. I am called ‘over indulgent’ many a times cos I would do this too….Good for you Wil, you will make a superb dad one day… Hey I think, their happiness is my happiness !
Happy days wished for you all under the warmth of the sun !!!

  3. Victoria says:

    you’re a good pup parent!!

  4. oh you most definitely will! That window is to die for!

  5. OhMelvin says:

I love it! Maybe you need to put wheels on their beds, or a strap that they can pull it themselves!

  6. Jeff says:

Teach them to move their own beds.

  7. my mom is a green as the grinch, she always wanted such a sunroom…and that’s great that you offered this super place to Eko and Penny … I hope my mom would do that too… just in case we had such a sun room :o)

  8. Stef says:

Looks like you have room for one more bed in there!! 🙂

  9. Kismet says:

Around here, it’s avoiding the sun. In most other places, the desirable parking spots are those that are close to the place you are going. Here, the desirable spots are in the shade and it doesn’t matter if you have to walk a bit more.

  10. Marcela says:

Lol. I couldn’t stop laughing. You sound exactly like me:-)

  11. What a great room! Yes living the life!

  12. Emmadog says:

It’s going to be full with all four of you in that area!

  13. Too adorable, your lounge lizards sunning themselves. And can I just say…what a spectacular space for when you and Emily…for when will actually be able to enjoy it with them? 😉

  14. Nikitaland says:

Nikita and Bella do this too, and as soon as the morning sun hits the kitchen floor, the fight is on for who gets the “sunny spot” first! Whoever wins that spot, the other heads to the landing to catch the rays by the back door. Silly dogs!

  15. Jan & Rusty says:

Eko and Penny aren’t spoiled. You’re just well trained. ❤️ I can relate. Rusty has me well trained, too.

  16. coastingnz says:

Can you see your thumb…….. I think your fur children have your under it! lol

  17. Me says:

I love this – I love this so much!! 😀

  18. Cupcake says:

Those beds need wheels on them! Or handles so the doggies can pull them around themselves.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  19. Rene L. Hester Jensen says:

Awesome! Gr8 to see the pups test driving the sunroom! Quick ?, what’s the name of the brown bed you have for them? And, do they prefer the one w/ a head

  21. This is my new favorite blog. My dogs don’t usually sleep in the sun, they prefer the shade. But I have adjusted beds, fluffed pillows, and even adjusted myself so that our 4 dogs are more comfortable.

  22. Fozziemum says:

Oh this is hilarious hahahhaha of course it is exhausting having to move from sun puddle to sun puddle..like a comedy skit i can see you moving the beds while the kids wait…giving you the requisite look hahhahah 🙂 looks like a nice spot to be..goodluck enjoying it Will 😉 hugs Fozziemum

  23. Abbie says:

Ok, the dogs here are insisting that I request a dog-sleep-over at your house. Only during the day so that they can share the sun. 🙂 That looks like doggie heaven! And I can totally relate to being their personal servant. My favorite is when they want me to make the sun come out. Since when am I in charge of that?

  24. Cathy & Banjo says:

That is too funny that they actually whine for their beds to be moved into the sun! Good thing they have you on staff to keep them well sunned!

  25. How cute they are! Our RR also like sunbathing! 🙂
