Mornings in the city are a hit-the-ground-running affair. I quickly dress, grab the leashes and head out for my morning walk with the pups. It certainly gets my blood going for the day, which I appreciate, but there are times when I would appreciate a slower start. After 12+ hours of driving yesterday, today was such a day. Luckily Emily’s parents have the ultimate dog-friendly luxury – a fenced yard.

And the pups certainly know about it. They immediately dashed to the door this morning, eager to stretch their legs after yesterday’s drive

“Hey buddy, less photos, more opening-the-door-for-us”

I stepped outside to enjoy my coffee while the dogs enjoyed a friendly backyard brawl

Never too early for a good romp!

Some of us wake up with coffee, others with a bite to the head

Penny also decided to practice a few karate moves

The pups reveled in racing up and down the lawn while I reveled in not doing a thing

We’re loving our new vacation amenity for the week, maybe a bit too much. Every time we come inside the pups just turn around and beg to be let out again. It’s vacation though, so I’m happy to drink my coffee and oblige.

Comments for Simple Vacation Luxuries

  1. I’m so with you, a fenced yard is a gift :o) except the morning after the storm… fortunately Easy noticed the disappeared fence later than me :o) Have a super great time, enjoy the first morning with the pups and a coppa :o)

  2. Victoria says:

yep fenced back yards are the best!!!

  3. Emmadog says:

We take our fenced yard for granted since it is always there. We still always walk and then play in the yard as the yard is not a bathroom and landmines are forbidden, but we do enjoy hanging out in the yard.

  4. dashlilly says:

But beware the “can I come in” stare quickly followed by the “can I go out” stare quickly followed by the “can I come in” stare quickly followed by the “can I go out” … you get it.. it gets really repetitive….

  5. Neeka and Khoi would be jealous of your green grass. Theirs is brown and crunchy right now. Great for rolling in (and leaving a trail through the house), but nothing beats tall, cool, green grass to romp through. Much more fun playing Serengeti Lion Hunter. Have a wonderful vacation! We’ll be in South Lake Tahoe for our daughter’s wedding this weekend, but the pups get to stay in the foothills. I’m sure they would like a vacation like Penny and Eko’s!

  6. I wish our entire property was fenced; I looked into the cost and it was enough to make a woman say “what” three times rapidly.

As long as strangers stay off our property (yeah, I’m talking to you cyclists who love to trespass) then our dogs enjoy the same fun every day. I love it. I don’t think I can go back to the city. I miss it sometimes, but often.

  7. It looks the perfect place for a holiday! Enjoy it, all of you.

  8. Coffee + relaxation = the perfect vacay recipe! Enjoy.

  9. that’s what vacations are for! That is adorable that they are fully aware that there is a yard there. They are brilliant! (but we already knew that!)

  10. Kismet says:

You may have a problem getting them to come back.

  11. a fenced in yard is so nice, no worries. great photos, enjoy your stay

  12. A big fenced in yard and a dog door – two luxuries I can’t do without!

  13. Head biting and Karate seem like just the thing to start the day. I am not allowed to do either. I don’t have a little sister, and I’m pretty sure Mom would frown on a head bite or a karate chop to the arm. Instead I make a nest out of her sheets while she’s in the shower and shake one of my toys till I make myself dizzy.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

oh we love to romp and sniff, wish I was there to play with you, you looked like you had a great time
