The grass and the mud are a fun change of terrain
But more importantly…
There’s agility equipment!
Agility is a fun challenge and a great way to exercise. My original hope was to practice what Penny and I learned in our agility class, but the pups decided it would be more fun to run the course together.
And by that I mean they decided it would be more fun to wrestle their way throughĀ all the equipment
Eko did manage a couple clean jumps, but after that it looked like an episode ofĀ American Gladiators
In regular agility the dogs run up the frame. In Freestyle Agility, it’s more of a king-of-the-mountain type game
For a moment I thought Penny might remember her training and run down the ramp properly
But she quickly disabused me of that notion with her divebomb dismount
Eko followed suit
And the wild rumpus continued across the agility area
If style points and creativity decided the outcome of agility trials, I’d have two national champions
I submitted a formal application to the AKC requesting they add a “Tag Team Freestyle” category to future agility trials. What it lacks in the technique, it more than makes up for with fun.
I’m sure they’ll approve my request any day now…
Looks like fun. Agility on your own is most likely more interesting than in a class!
Eko and Penny had a blast. That’s all that matters! (Especially to them.)
well it looks like a lot of fun -thats for sure – leave it to Penny to revise a decades old tradition and leave you laughing and asking for more. Such a little rebel!
They’d be fools not too but then again they probably know you’d win every year so it wouldn’t make it much of a competition lol
What do you mean by you’re lucky to live near Montrose dog beach? I thought that was a big part of your plan.
Oh my gosh, Will, I was just thinking about this same topic when I was taking the dogs down to their usual beach along the river. When walking down the trail, Neeka suddenly stopped and wanted to go another direction! Could she be tired of the same ol’, same ol’? I wondered how Eko and Penny handled the daily trips to Montrose. I guess you answered my question! Love the agility set up at the park. Neeka and Khoi use boulders and dense brush for their “natural” agility course. The only bad part of that is brushing the ticks off them afterwards
Oh the thought of them doing anything remotely like everybody else!! Love their style and fun play! They really act like children do at times. Maybe you should expect the unexpected and maybe that will work? Oh but I have bets that Eko & Penny will win with their unique style!
Ha! Good luck with the AKC request. American gladiators with a bit of ABC’s Wipeout style-yup that’s Penny. š
Am I surprised at the death defying leap off the side of the ramp? No! Why walk when you can fly? That’s my motto.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I would not hold my breath on that AKC request – but if these photos don’t make the case…nothing will!
Oh that would be great to have a park with agility equipment… I could write the funniest posts when I run over that ramp or jump through that ring with my humanoide kite in tow :o)
They are so suited for each other. They provide me with laughs while i read them at work. Just love them both. Thx.
What a cool park and fun agility stuff. Great pictures.
