We’ll be spending our extra day in full leap
For fun I tracked my life as if only lived on February 29ths-
1988 – I’m two, I can’t do anything, this is boring
1992 – Hey we have a dog! I have freckles, he has spots, we’re ready to party
1996 – Romping with our Dalmatian in the Blizzard of 96
2000 – Another family pup! And somehow I managed not to get thrown out of middle school!
2004 – Graduate High School
2008 – Graduate College
2012 – This is where it gets fun! I have my own dog and my own blog.
And we’re living it up in Houston
We were so young!
Leap forward to today and I have a new pup, a new city, and new apartment and a new* wife! (*Note to Emily: I don’t have an old wife, I simple said “new” because it fit with the rest of the sentence)
Where will we leap to next?
The next February 29th is in 2020. That’s the future! Well, obviously. But I mean the “flying cars and robot butlers” future. Or at least that’s how it sounds to me.
Four years seems like a pretty good timeframe for a flipbook of life. What does your flipbook look like? Any big jumps between February 29ths?
And the most important question of all. What’s the conversion rate between dog years and leap years? I think I need a calculator… or a nap.
we always laughed an one of our classmates who was born this day… we called him the baby… today he is 11… and we are old , ha! Happy Leap Day to you may this year will bring only good things for us all :o)
Leap year is fun, since I was born in one. I wonder if dogs know they get an “extra day of fun”, treats, walks, etc.? (p.s. Quick recovery explanation to Emily!!)
I can’t believe you kept track of all of that! I am beyond impressed! I can’t tell you what happened a year ago let alone four years ago! Thanks for your comment on Dakota’s birthday! No, his birthday was yesterday….I just didn’t update the blog today (surprise, surprise! lol)
OMG! When I saw the second pic, I thought, that looks like the pool at my old dog park. Sure enough, it is! I used to spend hours at that dog park and I can’t believe I never ran into you two. You know how Ridgeback people tend to gravitate toward one another. So cool!
Can you imagine only having your birthday every other year . Takes longer to get older
Lots of jumps – from one coast to another many years back. Multiple dogs, multiple cities, multiple houses…I get tired just remembering!
You are such a babe in the Leap Year Chronicles and because I have soon many more of them, my memory fails me. 😉 That said, it’s a fun time to reflect back at the previous one and see where one has been. Here’s to the next happy 4 years.
Getting thrown out of middle school was probably the best thing you ever did that’s not dog related.
Lol…definitely a nap! Cool idea! I’m not sure it would be that interesting if I did a flipbook thing like you did, though. I’ve lived through way less leap years, and I don’t know if I could remember what was going on at the time.
I
always loved leap day, too. I love the bonus feeling of getting the extra day; it’s kind of like free food! It seems like free time, even though it’s not.
That is a great idea – I’m going to give that ago later today – if I can remember back far enough. Struggle with yesterday sometimes. Well done on the note to Emily – good brownie points on that clarification…… 😉
Interesting way to look at events in life. I don’t think I can remember any details prior to yesterday hahaha.
Mom needs a calculator AND a nap, just from reading the human leap year times. If she tried to figure it in dog years, her head would explode. We know that today we are together, healthy, and happy, so we’re satisfied with that….
Love and licks,
Cupcake
You might know dogs Will, but you don’t know two year olds. Never a dull moment… even if you don’t remember it, that was when your adventurers really took off!
One of Mom’s good friends is a leap child. She remembers celebrating her 5th birthday with her back in 1986, this year she turned 13. It’s always fun to have fun with the poor girl’s age!
Now I know why this year seems to be dragging. Last year at this time it was already March. 🙂
Happy Leap year!
